Words fail me.

Wife and I raise horses on the side. It always amazes me when newbs flip out when a foal starts nibbling on its mom’s poo. It’s just nature’s way of getting bacteria into the newborns tract.
O' and trust me..... if you ever get C Diff you’ll do just about anything to make it stop. It can kill you or cause serious damage from dehydration if not handled correctly. |

You need good bacteria in your bowels. People abuse their bodies with antibiotics which kill these good bacteria. Clostridium difficile is a very hardy bacterium and survives and causes extreme diarrhea due to the production of a toxin.
A fecal transplant reintroduces normal microflora into the bowel. If you take antibiotics, you should probably be eating live culture yogurt. Not guaranteed to prevent clostridium difficile, but it helps. |

Just to scare everyone.... C Diff is passed on by a spore, that means soap and water will remove it from your skin but not kill it. It can be on a handrail or toilet seat for weeks and still get you sick. It requires bleach or other high powered cleaners to actually kill the spore.
If you’re ever visit a nursing home or hospital don’t even think about touching handrails.... or just about anything else. It spreads like wildfire; you can actually track it from room to room (patient to patient) and figure out which employees aren’t following infection control practices. |
