Not too many real surprises left in life. I would wait. It is really amazing how ultrasounds have become a standardized practice as they aren't necessary for the vast majority of normal pregnancies.

Nothing a kid needs in the first month or two is based on gender. Wait and see.

We kept out first one a surprise (make sure you tell the OB and the techs when they lube up the belly).  Cheated on the 2nd one.

Having done both, surprises are better.

I'd like to know. It would be cheaper if you knew what to buy.

I'd want to know.  I might feel differently when we're actually having one though.

Just have two names ready.  Or call it Pat.

I didn't want to know with my first until the ultrasound tech asked me if I wanted to know.  Of course I said yes.  I couldn't leave there knowing someone else knew what the sex was and me not!

The first one we knew, as we had to have an ultrasound.  The next 4, we didn't need an ultrasound, so we didn't know.

Currently in that boat-neither my wife nor myself can make up our mind(5 months along), so as of right now I'll say no. If that changes, there are several "ultrasound studios" in the area. I figured  we'd make the reversible decision. There's a way to find out if we want to, we can't "un-know" what we find out. We have two names we're pretty set on, regardless what our baby is, one will fit.

All I care about is that the baby's healthy, as of this morning's appointment it looks good so far on that front.

We found out yesterday (it's girl).

You really couldn't miss it.  She was butt up when the ultrasound started, so the first image pretty much looked like someone picking up soap in the shower, and you saw two leggs and a butt with nothing between them.  Some people say wait for the surprise.  Our doctor ask and said whatever your answer is, is the right answer.  It was still a surprise yesterday.  Just not later.

LOL... no kidding.  If you wait, you're still surprised when you find out yet now you have to go buy all your baby clothes in the right color RFN.

Our first one we were surprised.

Our second, well she was getting a sonogram done and we just looked at each other and asked.

Girl #2.

"My girlfriend's pregnant right now. I'm a little scared. My friends keep bugging me. They're like, 'Do you want a boy or a girl?'.
I don't care. I know it sounds cheesy, but... I just hope it's black."

When my children were born it was the most exciting times in my life. Before they were born I know exactly what sex they were because my wife's doc had to do an amino on her.  This is exact, but ifs and buts. Sonograms are something like 80% because the docs actually see the genitals, but sometimes the image is not exactly perfect so there is an error factor. And now they are all grown up and off to college.

First child, my wife and i didnt want to know. BONUS it was a boy!

Second child we figured what the heck when doctor asked us if we wanted to know?
BONUS boy number 2!

Really all that matters is that they are healthy (boy or girl)

We found out. I think it gave my wife something to do. She bought clothes for him from when he was born untill jounior high I believe. Next one maybe we will wait. SO much stress during the birth it might have been nice to have a surprise then or maybe not. Healthy and mine is all that matters.

Nothing a kid needs in the first year is gender specific, much less in the first few months.  Don't paint the nursery until you come back from the hospital, buy the paint on the way home.  That kid aint sleeping in there for the first few weeks anyway.

I didn't want to know.

I was surprised with a baby boy.

Good stuff.
