If they've got their head on straight- hell no.
If you could see them pulling a Michael Douglas in Falling Down move, then you might not turn him in but sure as hell go and confiscate them and dig a hole in your back yard for when China invades. F CHINA |
I dunno? do you report every speeder you see? I dont think I would care unless I was threatend
Depends.
Otherwise law abiding citizen? No. Cop, Fed or other "elite/protected class" in a position to enforce or ingnore Unconstitunal laws? In a heartbeat. |
My copy of the Constitution says there is no such thing as an "illegal machinegun."
Anonymously if an only if:
a) They were not responsible enough to own one and would likely endanger the lives of themeselves or someone else. or b) I just didn't like them for whatever reason. |
My copy says the same thing as his... |
Is the statement underneath your screenname a reflection of what you'd do if faced with this situation?
Maybe, if he was a thug, nut, dirtbag, or fed. Otherwise, no.
nope and the two times i have seen one i did not, but its been many years so i dont even remember their names
edit to clarify i saw a guy at a range who had an uzi that he cut off the barrel to 10 inches so it was a sbr. he would change the barrel out once on the range ( indoor ) so no one saw it, i saw him pull it out of his pocket the other was a guy who had an ffl, he did a conversion on it and removed the S/N. he kept it out of his house, which was where his ffl was registered to. a friend worked for him at a non gun bussiness, and told him i liked guns, so he brought in a few to show off |
How did it happen that you found out if a person had an unregistered mg? If they are out showing it off, then they deserve to be found out.
It has never come up. I never ask if its legal or not nor do I intend to start.
Not my job man! |
Exactly my thoughts |
I agree. |
same here, even the online copies. Would not turn them in and, if anything, I would go over to their place (with ammo) in case a defense needs to be setup Now, if their head was screwed on wrong ... edit: IBTP |

Don't ask, Don't Tell. Thats my policy too brother. |
If you can afford to feed one of the hungry bastards, good for you! I do well to keep my AR from starving to death.
Mums the word. |
I mind my own F'in business. My dad taught me when I was a little kid that you don't rat on people, tattle, you know.
Yes, because a person with an illegal machinegun brings discredit upon the semi-auto military pattern firearm owning crowd especially, and gun owners in general. Idiot should have been more responsible.
ETA: If they are so stupid to bring it out in public so that I found out, then I could surmise that other people would find out, etc. Idiots like this can bring more trouble than good. (I don't go around asking, and I don't shoot in places that allow MGs---not because I'm against them, but because I shoot at an indoor range that doesn't allow rifles for convienance....it's the closest range to my house, so for me to find out, you basically have to be telling the world). |
How am I supposed to know? A form 4 is a confidential piece of tax information. Not my buisness to ask. |
No. I'd be shooting it often with the owner, I buy the ammo you bring the gun
Aww c'mon. While we all wish that MGs weren't regulated the way the are (and so damn expensive), the law is reality. Some of you say the Constitution doesn't say this or that, it also doesn't say ________ yet we all know its wrong. (Fill in the blank yourself) I'm not going to break any laws, but I'm not going to report someone for doing so unless they endanger my life or the life of someone I care about. However, if you're stupid enough do break the law and get caught, you get no sympathy from me. |
Depends. Drug dealing gang banger: Absolutely Ordinary guy: Only if he didn't let me shoot it. |
It's what you would call a tongue-in-cheek comment. |
think of the blackmail that could occur if you had a devious mind...
Ditto. |

If a tree falls in the woods, and there's no one there to hear it.......

now if you saw down a tree in the middle of town square..... it definitly makes noise. Discretion is key. Of course, my official opinion is that i obey all laws and regulations as applicable. My AR Pistol did not get the stock until my form 1 was in hand. |

I've ran across this situation and no, I didn't make any phone calls.
