Other thread
Funny that this thread be started tonight, as I was thinking about this earlier and was going to post it to the crowd this evening.

I normally carry either my 226 and a few spare mags, or my 220ST and a few spare mags, and often have a AR and a few spare mags close by(notice a trend?)

For my vacation, since I'm taking a motorcycle, I really don't have room for either. My clothing doesn't provide for good concealment for the large pistols, and my fag bag is really not an option for me.

That said, my only other option is to carry my Taurus 5 shot .38 and a few speed strips that I have for it. Given that I normally carry so much more firepower, and am used to having it available to me, I feel quite underarmed with a total of 15 shots, and .38 +P at that. I'm not really comfortable with the 9mm+P+ except for the fact I have a shitload of ammo available to me. (3 mags X 15 rounds each plus a few in the truck)

I'm pretty damn good with the .38, and I know all the statistics about civilian gunfights and all that other crap. I still just can't shake the feeling that it's just not enough. Would you feel comfortable with that loadout?

Better to have something readily at hand than nothing. You don't even have room for a broken down long gun?

It should be a 22 to go with that 38.

Go...take what you can work with. If that is the .38+P only then that is how it is. Even if you carry "on the badge", it can still be a huge PITA to have to deal with a semi-concealed CCW. Most likely you will be fine...if not...we split your gear!

Come by the house. If you can get the safe open, split it up among the Tallahassee members.

Take it.

I carry a S&W Mod 60 .38 as a backup/off duty carry gun and in addition to my Glock 22 when on/off duty.   Whether I carry the Glock or not, does not matter, the Smith makes me feel warm all over.   I have had to brandish it twice now, off duty, and they(The bad guys) get the point, really.

I don't really care for the mouse guns in .22/25/32/380.   .38 and .38+P is not a bad load whatsoever.    Give them 5 rounds immediately while running for cover, reload and make them come get you.  (Provided they are still in the area) Use cell phone to call in an airstrike (Police), you will be fine.

I dont think that a .38 is a bad carry option with the right ammo.  With the correct shot placement, a .38 will kill you just as dead as a .45.

Vanilla_Gorilla: On a side note, how is that bushy working for you?

I'm going broke shooting it. Over a case of ammo since I got it, and buying another one when I come back from vacation.

Saddle holster for your AR on the bike

Open Carry your pistols if states allow.  You'll look oh-so-cool with open carry coming off a bike walking into the local Wawa (lmao).

I don't understand how its hard to conceal a normal size semi-auto.  Just wear a shirt untucked over it.  Who cares if you print, and most times you will not be printing.  The cops can't do anything to you as long as you hide the gun.  Printing isn't a ticketable offense.  You could at least pack it in your bags.

Use a shoulder holster for when your riding.  You might not draw fast, but you can maintain your normal carry weapons on your person until you change out of your riding cloths.

Be a man and stop caring what others think.  If your obeying the law, nothing else matters.\

What if the zombie attack comes while your on your vacation?  Then you'll be without your AR.

Reading half the stuff you people wish with your CCW, it should be revoked:

You don't carry a CCW to win the fight, you carry the CCW to GET OUT OF THE FIGHT.

You can't print with a CCW, it's on the same level and flashing it.

Raise your arms over your head, move your shirt around as you shop, reach for your wallet, sit down. The  examples are endless about how a full sized auto cannot be easily concealed for daily activities. I can sometimes do it with the right combination of clothes with my Glock 27, but no way am I able to conceal my Glock 22 just by wearing a  shirt over it. When I have tried its ALWAYS failed.

I don't own an IWB holster, I normally wear a button-up shirt over it, but that's just not suitable on the bike. My jacket doesn't cover it up.

Use a shoulder holster for when your riding.  You might not draw fast, but you can maintain your normal carry weapons on your person until you change out of your riding cloths.

Don't own a shoulder holster. The one I tried was uncomfartable as hell, and convinced me that I don't like them. Besides, what if I ride only wearing a t-shirt?

Be a man and stop caring what others think.  If your obeying the law, nothing else matters.

The man part is debatable, I'm no tough guy. I don't worry about what others think about me and my gun, but I would like to stay out of jail on my vacation. If I do my job, nobody will know what to think about it, it will be concealed.

Maybe you need a real gun[/glockjoke]

I can conceal a full size 1911 with just a t-shirt.

I feel comfortable with 7 rds of 9x18 out of a Makarov. I figure simply "drawing down" will take care of 99% of any situation that might arise and another .9% can be taken care of with 7 quick shots. The remainder I will just have to take my chances on.

Edit: I forgot to add that I used to carry my S&W 637 withone speedloader when I was out on my motorcycle. I always wondered how far I would get down the interstate with an Ak or AR slung on my back though
