What is your favorite work boot brand and why?

I've always worn Timberland boots for work but am finding that the quality is lacking in a big way for the past few years. Today I picked up a new pair of Keen boots to try them out.

Red wing, Justins and thorogoods!

Comfortable....

Switched from 20 years of Red Wings to Chippewas about 15 years ago.

Chippewa for the WIN.

Good sizing, comfortable, warm and wears well.

Love them.

Timberland pro are still the most comfortable boots I can find.

Keen are junk. Absolute pieces of trash.

For my actual job I wear Danner boots in winter and rocky in the summer.

All other times I'm wearing timberland pros

I like Ariat.

We get money 2x a year for new boots. I barely get new ones, my Ariats hold up to confined space and grit blasting well.

I did get a 5.11 lace up this spring. They are comfy but stain. However they're not leather, but some type of fuzz.

I tried on two different pairs of Timberland pro's this afternoon and found that the back of the heel felt rough and I knew for sure that I would have major blisters at the end of day one. It's unfortunate because they were very soft yet supportive under my feet.

Red wings in the colder months and vibram in the hotter ones

I got these at the whites factory last winter and really like them. I like them way better then danners. They aren't rebuildable but who cares, they really don't rebuild them worth a shit and a rebuild costs almost as much as new boots.

I've worn Redwings for a long time. When I was younger I tried out all sorts of trendy brands and the Timberlands were the worst. They literally fell apart after a few weeks. I did pick up a cheap pair at Walmart to get me by when another pair shit the bed they were Brahma brand for like $39 and they've actually held up for a long time I use them when I need to put on some shit kickers.

Wolverine Raiders.
Extremely comfortable. They're durable enough, since I'm not crawling through boilers anymore.

I just looked at timberlands online. They are not "work" boots, they look like work boots. If you pay $150 or more for a pair of those you are not too bright, hell they are not even made in the USA.

Lol mmmmk. So what makes a "work" boot in your mind?

these are on my feet right now and are better than anything I've ever worn. And I have bought a lot of "work" boots in my life

I am a ceramic tile setter. Mostly large commercial work. We play hell on boots. Redwings $225 lasted 4 months soles come off. Walmart brahma $35 lasted 4 months soles come off at toes. Timberland pro $$ 5 months soles come off. Keen milwauke $165 ish just passed 1 year and sole is starting to come off. KEEN for the win. I have been laying floors for 14 years been through a shit ton of boots.  KEEN is where its at for serious work though they are not all that comfortable.

I would get something with a vibram sole and a gortex liner to start with. I also wouldnt buy anything that isn't triple stitched and has a sewn on sole.  You can get handmade in America boots for not much more then you paid for Chinese fashion accessories.

Look at nicks, whites, hathorns, Hoffman's, Drew's boots, even danners.

I got these for $99 bucks at the factory in Spokane in November. Have been great boots.

Dr Marten steel toe. Best boosts I've ever owned. They get a bit warm in the summer but all work boots seem to.

Danner. I used to wear red wings, but switched to danner when I started working in really wet areas.

Properly maintained, they will last a long time, even in a saltwater environment. The trick is to rinse the salt out and treat them with danner polish.

Caveat: the quarry line used to be really good, then they moved manufacturing offshore to China and they started to moderately suck. I bit the bullet and switched to rainforest (Steel toe, non-insulated). Much more expensive. Since then they brought the quarry back home, but I have not had a pair to evaluate.

If you can make your way to Portland, you can find great deals at their factory outlet. I got my rain forest at about 1/2 price from the seconds area. I never could tell why they were marked as seconds.

One day I will own a pair of Whites, custom built, but given that I really just polish a chair these days it's hard to justify them as a business expense.

I used to get their 16" lineman's boots at the factory for like $150 15 gears ago. They moved the factory and have turned it into more of a yuppie trendy store. They also have a new line of hipster boots they push pretty hard at the stores.

According to the web link you posted it says imported. A quick google search says made in China or the dominican republic so I apologize. Dominican fashion accessories .

Oh God, this just breaks my heart. They have a store local to me, and I've noticed it's branded kind of like Eddie Bauer. I guess since there are no real jobs left here that people need boots for, they have to follow the market.

Been wearing redwing heritage boots last couple years

My only grip is the soles seem to wear fast and with the low cut Oxford in particular I have a wacky wear pattern on the out of the heel that I dislike looks like I'm dragging my heel or something. Oh both the Oxford and chukka were a bitch to break in the leather insole is hard and molds to your foot overtime but they hurt my feet at first.

Besides that I like them

I bought a pair of these at Nashville Cowboy because they were the only place in town that carries boots in-stock in my size. Using their 'Buy One Pair, Get Two Pairs For Free' deal, they threw in a pair of black harness boots and brown suede cowboy boots from their house-brand, Masterson Boot Co. Not bad for under $200 for all three pairs of boots.

I wear the Ariats every week for work, and they are a great work boot. I didn't like the orange tops so I dyed them a dark-ish brown, and the rest of the boot's leather has darkened as I clean and oil them. The harness boots are a fashion-weight boot, and I can see them coming apart if I wear them for work too often. I climb around on stuff too much to wear the pointy cowboy boots for work, so they've been relegated to casual weekend boots.

Just depends on your foot.

I've worn Justin all my life and like 'em.   Red Wing doesn't have a last that comes close to fitting me.

Thorogood fit like Justins.

I've had White's and Nicks and those things are just super heavy duty lace up cowboy boots.  Uncomfortable as fuck.

Wore Red wings wellingtons, for years, this year tried a Chippewa and Danner. Chippewa is comfy and roomy, but leaks, the danners are nice but they are wearing fast. Bottom line they all suck and I stay pissed off at my boots, but they're just wear items and tools so fuck it.

Good looking boots, whats going on with that tongue?

I have worn Matterhorn Rangers(20+ years) and Keen Detroit (mixed service the last 5 or 6 years). The Keens quickly become water permeable, but are quite comfortable. The Rangers are now part of the Corcoran line and the pair I just got out of pretty much fell apart.

I just got a pair of Belleville 880ST and they seem pretty well built and are quite comfortable as well. I prefer a Vibram Kletterlift or Montagna Block sole, but we'll see I suppose. Price was right.

I've got Timberland Pro's right now, very nice and comfortable. Leather on the toes wore through after a couple months, but they're still waterproof, breathable in summer, but fairly warm in winter.

Picking up some Chippewa's for my next pair though, they last five years each for me.

Timberland pro boondocks with the composite toe. Waterproof and th most comfortable boot I've ever worn ever. Work as a tile setter, on my feet and knees all day long. The rubber toe still in good shape hasn't worn through. The soles wear pretty fast but that's most any pair of boots worn a lot. No rips or tears in any stitching so far after a year. The leather has taken a beating from being covered in thinset and has started to crack a little but it's still soft and flexible since I keep them oiled every few weeks and still waterproof. My brother also a tile setter has a different pair of timberland pros with a steel toes and his are great too and almost 3 years old.

I will buy another pair for my next boots.
