I wear SmartWool, Patagonia, Farm to Feet, and Duluth. I like them all. Modern wool socks are amazing. My early pairs of Smartwools are starting to wear out as well as some older Patagonias, but I wear them whenever I wear pants. I'm looking to replace my short socks with wool in the future as well because wool can be worn year round! |

I buy a brand labeled Omni wool from Sams Club. not itchy, very durable, and they don't slip. I work outside all day every day and they're great. bout $15 per 3 pk. I agree. I use mine for deer hunting and winter camping only. It's not often that the temps drop much below 30 F here but in my Gore-Tex uninsulated boots my feet are smiling. |

Check wool content on those, omni wool is a shit company. I have several, they suck. The omni wool shirts have even less wool, total waste of money if warmth is a consideration, though they do last longer thanks to high polyester content. I currently use people socks but always looking for better. |

A dozen for 36.00
Edit: What about really long socks? would these work? Wader socks |

Imported Australian Merino Wool made in USA by the fine craftsmen at Kirkland (Costco) 3 pairs for $12 I think, really nice sock.
Add a super thin DeFeet cycling sock and two pairs of these and I was warm last week in Alaska in deep snow down to 0 outside. When I mixed any other brand rather than 2 pairs of the Kirklands w/ a DeFeet liner I was cold, including mixing w/ a smartwool sock. |

Darn Tough brand is great, they are well made and last much longer than Smartwool, cheaper too. Smartwool is overpriced and wear out rather quickly, I could deal with it when they had their pro-discount, but they pulled that, so fuck them. So much this. Or if Darn Tough is too much, the merino wool socks at Costco are a good value. |

Danner boot company in Poerland, OR makes some great over the calf merino wool socks...I love 'em.
The alternative for me is having a relative whose hobby is knitting. She knits me these REALLY heavy wool, alpaca, or silk over the calf socks like those worn with a kilt. They are like a fisherman's wool cable knit sweater that go from toes to below my knee with a 3" folded over cuff. Great for around the house at night, really cold outdoor weather, or if you have boots that are 2 sizes too big. |

I'm with the replies above that suggest Kirkland (Costco) and REI but maybe you need over-the-calf types in particular? If you do then check out REI. If half-calf sizes work then the Costco ones are both really good and really cheap and not at all itchy. If nothing else, try local hiking/camping stores to see what they have. Don't bother with Target, Kohls, or Walmart, though, I doubt any of their socks will work worth a damn for you. ETA: also, Campmor might be worth looking into (online only but good deals). There are other outdoor equipment clearance sites that might have good options for you also. |

I wear these almost everyday. Very comfortable and durable.
Sockwell Circulator Compression Socks - 32% merino wool/32% stretch nylon/31% rayon/5% spandex - Knee-high - Light Cushioning - I like them for office work, the gym, and skiing. |

RedHead Lifetime Guarantee All-Purpose Wool Socks from Bass Pro cannot be beat for price and warranty.
I've been wearing these in the heaviest weight for about 8 years and yet to wear a pair out or get a hole in them. They keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer too! SOCKS |
