I was at a computer place today looking for a job when I heard a loud crash from outside.

I look and see that a white toyota trying to make a left turn onto the freeway onramp but hit a green ford causing major damage to the front sides of both cars. The white car quickly backs up and it looked like the driver was just trying to unblock traffic and pull into the center median, but takes off at high speed while the woman in the green car is screaming bloody murder for him to come back.

While this is happening I manage to memorize the license plate # of the hit and run suspect. I hurredly go down the crosswalk so I can get to the other side of the street and give her the info, but by the time I get there another witness had already given her the number.

Would I be considered a hero?

I would think so.

The number of hit and runs these days is getting out of hand. People just don't have the character to step up to the plate and take responsibility for their mistakes anymore.

Where were you during the hit and run that ruined my car?  I wish someone else would have been as helpful as you.

Yeah, wish you were outside that strip mall liquor store 7 years ago in SD when that jackass backed into my rental car (and took off) while I was inside looking at the magazines.

Serves you right for spending so much time at the dirty magazine rack.

Never mind the plate number, there can't be that many white Toyotas with major front-end damage. That's all the ID needed!

Imbrog - A REAL hero would have emptied their magazine (or in your case, your cylinder) into the perps.

Flipping out and beheading them  with style would be optional, but the above is mandatory foe "hero" status.

You did'nt have your cellphone?, You could have speed dialed 911,then continued with your interview demonstrating to your prospective employer your character........

I was hoping for high speed chase where a right handed shooter drives and shoot left handed out the driver side window, without aiming, and hits everything he is shooting at?

Your my hero.

Oops...Sorry, this was just an embarrassing misunderstanding...I thought you were someone else.

no, not a hero, just an upstanding citizen doing what is right.  unfortunately, in today's world, 'doing what is right' is sadly lacking.

unless you follow tate's advice, then  you would be a hero.

To be a hero you would have to had to pull the 38 and shoot the tires out of the fleeing vehicle, 100 demerits and no porn for a month.[@:D]

No. Being a day late and a dollar short ain't exactly "heroic".

No.  You're not even a witness to the accident.  You are a witness to the departure of the white Toyota, though.

A hero? Nope, a real mall ninja hero would've hopped up on the hood or roof of the Toyota & rode it as the driver sped off. Then the mall ninja hero would've reached in the drivers window & single handedly pulled out the offending driver & whipped him within an inch of his life as the mall ninja hero dragged him back to the victim.

Shame on you for not doing all of the above.

I got to chase a drunk driver once. The 911 operator told me to keep up with them and they were driving about 90 mph. The cops got the drunk but I'm still waiting for my parade. [rolleyes]

No, because I got too involved.  I didn't have a cell phone because the hospital had a sign posted saying no electronic communcation devices were allowed.

They told me what I did was commendable and is an example a good deed for the rest to strive for.
