right now I have a linksys router with wireless. It has 4 wired ports. I would like to add more wired ports. I am thinking of getting a 8 port wired router. But i want to keep the wireless part also.

Can I hook the wireless router to one of the 8 ports on the wired router? will it work? If yes are there any special setting I need to use?

Thanks

all you need is a switch link

Yes, switches have what is called a 'uplink port' that you can use to daisy-chain them together.

Personally I'd use netgear, I've had too many linksys routers with failed ports (ie. 1 port bad, the rest good. PITA to troubleshoot).

I'd go with Netgear as well.  I run a few of their switches, wireless print servers, and wireless routers in my home and office networks.

I've had issues with all the brands.

I have a netgear FR114P that gives me weird problems - such as ports will quit working for weeks and then all of a sudden start working again.

Honestly though, a switch or hub is pretty hard to screw up and even the cheap brands will do fine.

For an accurate answer, what are you going to be doing with this network?  Gaming?  office environment?
