| I bought a Linksys wireless router, and hooking it up to my desktop was no problem. The problem is that when I try to get on the network with my laptop, after I put in the security key, my laptop's status does not change from "Acquiring network address". Anyone have any ideas? I'm about ready to throw this thing out the window. |

sounds like your laptop has an older wireless card installed. meaning it might not support WPA encryption. check the wireless card for updated drivers. if it still doesn't work buy a pcmcia network card. setup it up for at least wpa encryption. wpa 2 tkip if possible. aes doesn't work on most cards |
I have a wireless network at my parents house which has wpa encryption. I just set it up at my apartment, and its giving me trouble. Its got to be something with the router settings, I just havent figured it out yet. My laptop is a HPdv1000 I got a year and a half ago, so I dont think the wirelss card is the issue. |

I saw it in american rifleman and was like "an AK in 8mm mauser? I want it" now I see on their site they won't sell to NY edit: whoops wrong thread see ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=64&t=97734 for this thread I meant to ask the stupid question, is dhcp turned on, and if it allows dchp to be configured differently between wired and wireless is it on for both? |
I thought I saw in a manual for one once that it could be done separately mine looks to be both atonce though |
I've never seen a home or small business router do that. I have seen it on larger routers, where you can separate them in different ip schemes -d |
