OK... I have a Netgear wireless router already hooked up. The tech who hooked it up set the password too. I know what it is. Here's what I want to do. My ex is leaving and she paid for the router. She's planning on leaving it here when she leaves, but I want to unplug the frikkin thing and give it to her and tell her where to put it. I do have a used Linksys broadband router for backup. No software though. If I unplug the Netgear one and plug is the Linksys one, does everything remain the same? I know if I put my IP address in the browser address line, I get a Netgeat setup type page. I also want to change the password on the router so she can't use the internet I am paying for. Yes, I am being an ass, but you guys have NO idea the hell she is putting me through so please don't judge me ![]() Whatever help you guys can come up with on this router, please let me know. Much appreciated.. |
Once she leaves and hooks up the router to a different cable modem it will not be accessing "your internet." Also, changing the password is a waste of time. If you have physical access to the router you can reset it to the factory default via the reset button. When you hook up your Linksys router you should change the routers name and password . Then enable security and assign a password for wireless access. |
