I have a wireless router and 3 computers. They are networked and everyone can see eachother and share files from my network places. We will have broadband tomorrow, but everytime I enable WEP the computers all connect to the router fine with the passwords with 128bit encryption, however in my network places we do not see eachother and can not share files. How do I get encryption enabled and still be able to share files over the wireless network? |

windows xp professional on 2 computers windows xp home one 1 computer router = Linksys WRT54G newest firmware = 4.00.7 All computers are wireless. 2 laptops and one desktop security in the router is set to DISABLE When WEP is enabled I use default transit type 1 and I have the ability to have 4 keys. I only use the first 3. |

I tried setting the router to 64 bit. the desktop unit connects just fine and I can see myself on it. I should of posted one laptop is 802.11b while the other two computers are G. the router sends in mixed for both speeds. with 64bit and 128bit the 802.11b laptop always connects to the router, but I can not access it from the computer nor can I see it in my network neighborhood. but I know that 802.11b can use encryption somehow. I am out of ideas on this one. I even disabled all firewalls to work on them to rule that out as a possible problem; |

when you type in your passphrase it generates 4 keys.... choose 1 key.. where it says default trasmittion key.. thats the key you type into the wireless systems. then it will work B and G are backward compatible. b will just run at 11Mb instead of 54Mb(g). this will be much easier to setup once you get the dsl or cable service. xp will see a computer in network neighbors for a couple min even after it has lost connection. it is not instanteous

ok i have the computers all working and can access the router from all 3 of them now. However one of the computers does not show up in my network neighborhood still. It can view the others but no one can view it. the problem one now is hte B card one. Nothing else was changed. |
