I was given a fairly new computer and it has windows Xp home version.   My brother says I should upgrade to Xp pro.

Should I?  If so why?  I don't have any of the OEM software for this computer.

Xp pro  $130 plus cd writer program for Cd/R drive.  Is it worth it

Running athlon  xp processor  model 1800(1.53 GHz)

Thanks computer guys

If you're not running multiple computers in the home, or if you don't use the computer to log in remotely to work, Home should be fine....Pro 's major difference is all the netowrking support built in.

Will home work if I want to network with my old computer to transfer old programs?

I am no puter expert.

+1

No need for Home.  You're a self-proclaimed non-expert so you'll never benefit from the things you'll get with Pro since you probably will never ever use them.

You're brother just wants you to get a copy of Pro so he can have one too.
