My sister bought a new computer, an Acer X1200 with Vista Home Premium, for her family last Christmas. Last week she calls me asking me to check it out because she "thinks the computer has a virus." Well, I go look at it and the damn thing will not boot in anything but safe mode. I tried to use a system restore but it says it's already in use and nothing happens. I made a recovery disc (from files found online) and it now boots in to Windows but there are no icons, nothing will run, and it says that Windows Explorer can not be started. The computer came with no software so I can't reinstall Windows. Anyone have any suggestions?

P.S. I'm tempted to put the Windows 7 RC on there and be done with it. But then I'd have to figure out something in March when the RC testing ends.
