Ok, so I shutdown Windows Update due to Microsoft sending out those Win10 auto-upgrade updates....
Now, how do I keep that Win10 Upgrade from happening but also get the updates that I need? I bet I'm not the only user who shut off updates due to that Win10 BS! I MS still doing that? |

Whatever Josh.....Move along if you have nothing of value to add. Quoted:

Another one! It utterly validates MS' decision to remove the update frequency and reboot frequency decision from users in Windows 10. |

I can't help it. Ya'll with your "I'm so cool I disabled all ma' updates" and now you're crying because you're vulnerable to an attack MS patched for you four months ago. It utterly validates MS' decision to remove the update frequency and reboot frequency decision from users in Windows 10. |

As far as I can tell, it is no longer auto-upgrading, although it never really actually did. |

Auto upgrading happened to many people, against their wishes. Many of them not Microsoft Certified Sales Agents. Because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it didn't happen. Nick Burns is alive and well on the internet. ![]() |

I can't help but think that MS is at least partly to blame for so many un-patched systems......

I think most of them were people who pushed the button to upgrade. The upgrade did download by itself, but it required user action to actually install. Quoted:

Microsoft screwed people on that. IIRC it popped up and said it was going to install and just closing the window which a lot of people did let it continue. A lot of people didn't understand what was going on and closed the window because they didn't want it. That's a change in the normal behavior you get in Windows and I don't blame them for being pissed. pressing "X" to close the window started the install. ar-jedi |
