So bear with me here. I don't pretend to understand the Windows 7 licensing.
I ordered a copy of Win7 Pro 64-bit from an ebay seller with 20k+ positive feedback, first few pages of his positive feedback were all for Windows and Office products. Two months later I ordered a copy of the same from an Amazon seller, also with several thousand positive feedbacks, also 99% of which were for Microsoft software. In the past couple of weeks, both PCs that were installed using each of these OS discs have given the counterfeit software alert. Some googling turns out semi-useful info, but not really. I have already contacted both sellers to see if they know what is going on (not that I would expect them to admit to selling pirated copies and/or re-using product keys, if that is in fact what they are doing). But I'm wondering if I should contact Microsoft by telephone for each PC? Some more googling and reading reviews for other sellers of similar product show this is not an isolated incident, although less than 0.5% of the buyers are reporting licensing issues. Any ideas? Thanks. |
