I have a quote to get the whole truck done (4 door) with a windshield film by Llumar for under $450, as well as a quote for a 3M provider for around the same by another shop.
Other than making sure they've been in business a while and their warranties are nationwide, what are some things to think about when looking for a tint? |

Quoted: Unless your windows have insane compound curves, you could do it yourself in under an hour for FAR less than that quote. And expect to buy twice as much film because it is a learning process the first time. Pro installers do a much better job because of experience not because it's rocket science. I had a local shop do 7 windows at a cost of $275, three years later it still looks perfect. All of the edges are right on, no bubbles, great job. |

$450 seems high Got my crew cab Titan done with 5% rear doors and windows, 25% froNt doors, and 5% eyebrow for $150 Dealer wanted to charge $600 to tint the CX-5 when we bought it for 5% rear doors and windows, and 25% front windows. The salesman took it to his dad's shop and had it done for $100 |

I just had my 4-door focus hatch done, legal up front, 5% in the back and a 6" visor on the top of the windshield for $150 less than your quote. All done with Llumar CTX. http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b538/Bmill113/20160401_150200_zpsd7nfsiag.jpg Might want to shop around. That came out nice. I figured they were high but they're both ceramic tint so I expected a higher than normal quote. |

I paid 195 out the door for a 4 door sedan and the top tier 3m tint....gone to them for years and it used to be 175. I'd never pay that much. GF had her car done, and while it looks great it was a Groupon on an older car. I want ceramic with a national warranty. |

Unless there's that much difference in labor rates between Texas and Mo. |

That is 2x too much....maybe more if your a repeat customer. Ive done a dozen or so vehicles with Llumar. I think its the best. Do 5% visor, 15% over factory tint rear and back sides, and 5 or 15% over the front sides....depending on how you like it. Another option is to do 5% over the rear glass instead of 15%, factory tinted or not, since it gets headlights direct to it and is usually vertical on a truck. |

Are you getting it below the legal limit? Will the shop do that? I've never seen a shop that had a problem doing it. Neither have I. But one shop I went to would only accept cash for under-the-limit jobs. I guess they thought that no CC papertrail would save them from any legal backlash. I dunno. |

I didn't get that stipulation when the guy told me he could do 5% on all glass, but "keep in mind, 35% is the legal limit for the front doors." Maybe some states hold the company legally liable, in Missourah, is on the owner of the car. |

You just have to sign a waiver that states if the police dick slap you because of it they are not obligated to remove or replace it for free. Limo tint at your own risk. |

Same for the shop that did my Audi in NY, owner told me "You're going to get pulled over with that tint so I don't recommend it but we'll do it if you want". Never got a second look from cops in NY but I had it removed before I moved here to GA. |

I got.my truck done in Tyler. The only thing I can complain about is I think they cracked my windshield. My truck didn't have satellite radio, but it was hooked up for it. I ordered an OEM satellite radio receiver and installed it under the dash where it is supposed to go, but the antenna was short. The best spot I could place ot was above my rear view mirror on the inside of the windshield held by heavy duty 3M tape that comes on the antenna. The knocked it off to put the eyebrow on and stuck it back on without new tape. Didn't notice until a hot day and my antenna kept falling, then I noticed the crack. Hardly noticeable unless the sun hits it just right. I don't think it will spread as both ends of the crack end/start at the top of the windshield. I've had the tint for 6 years and still looks good. I did fix my satellite radio antenna. Found a 15ft magnetic antenna at Best Buy thay fit my radio receiver and routed it from under the dash, under the carpet, up the C post, and out of the 3rd brake light and sits on top of the roof. |

I Quoted:
Madico 35%/20% with lifetime warranty for $240 (if I remember). I would prefer no tint on the ol' girl (just looks more "right" as you can see) but the A/C would never keep up with the Texas sun. <a href="http://s4.photobucket.com/user/phuzzygnu/media/20150703_144059_zpswoszysyr.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/phuzzygnu/20150703_144059_zpswoszysyr.jpg</a> <a href="http://s4.photobucket.com/user/phuzzygnu/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150711_131759_zpsuhg9nu82.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/phuzzygnu/Mobile%20Uploads/20150711_131759_zpsuhg9nu82.jpg</a> <a href="http://s4.photobucket.com/user/phuzzygnu/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150711_131828_zpsfndtgcug.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/phuzzygnu/Mobile%20Uploads/20150711_131828_zpsfndtgcug.jpg</a> <a href="http://s4.photobucket.com/user/phuzzygnu/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20150711_131843_zpsuafzgqdd.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/phuzzygnu/Mobile%20Uploads/20150711_131843_zpsuafzgqdd.jpg</a> Nice ride! |

They never had any interest in where I got it done here in NY. The shop I was talking about was when I lived in SC. |

I had my Lexus done with limo tint all around " not the windshield " and never had a problem with " the man " . No problems in NY, two trips down south before I moved resulted in 2 traffic stops for tint so I removed it. Not worth the hassle, especially with my town PD's reputation for traffic enforcement. |

Girl near me does outstanding work with warranty for real cheap. I paid $70 for the two fronts to match the factory rears. Jennifer's Window Tinting on Facebook for those in the Appleton, WI area. A whole vehicle is like $150-$200. Maybe check with a smaller shop like that near you. Her garage is never empty and she quick.

It's mainly for heat as well. |

He came to me, too.
