Actually a legit question in regards to a murder investigation. I know they did in Deadwood and Hannibal, but in reality, will a modern farm-raised pig eat a dead human body?
+1 and if they are old sows, they may even eat the bone |
They'll eat an injured pig alive, so yeah they would comsume a human.
Filthy creatures. |
Wow. Appreciate the speedy replies. If anyone can give a link or further info regarding this (i.e., something I could use to substantiate that pigs will infact eat a human body), I would appreciate it.
sorry, then we'd be incriminating ourselves! |
You guys are the ones eating pig all the time.
I never see good beef, fish or chicken dinner pics. It's ALWAYS pork. |
I have raised pigs, and yes , they will eat a dead human body.
Please don't post pics. |
Ah, I knew I had heard of this before somewhere. |
we had an old man here last year that was pig farmer. All the found was part of his foot. He was feeding them the day before when he disappeared. mike |
Prolly if they are hungry enough |
They do in such movies as “Snatch” and “Hannibal” (as well as the HBO series “Deadwood”) - if the investigation goes to jury - 95% of what people know is gleaned from the giant glass tit - so they'll think it's reality.

They'll eat the bones too?!?! YIKES.
If I see any pigs, I'm shooting them as a preventative measure. |
Yes, I knew an archaelogist chick who spent six month excating some mass murders farm in canada.... lots and lots of bone shards
You'll have to ask Robert Alan Pickton of canada,
He killed over 25 prostitutes at his pig farm. They've only been able to find 15 bodies. http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/pickton/ http://www.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2004/01/28/327186-cp.html http://www.missingpeople.net/pig_farm_search_continues_as_four_more_charges_laid-sept_20,_2002.htm http://www.missingpeople.net/another_woman's_dna_found_at_pig_farm-sept_17,_2002.htm |

Yes, saw a pig eating a corpse on the side of a road in Haiti earlier this year. It was the most horrible thing I've ever seen,
I've heard of such things--if they can get you horizontal, you're a had lad. Remain Standing--and never get off the boat. |

You bet ya! God put them here to clean up garbage. Think about that when that ole bacon is frying. |
without question
eta: I raised pigs a number of years and they will eat one another alive, they will eat one another's corpses, they will eat through a solid oak post (about 8" thick), they will eat through a pair of waders while you are wearing them, they will bite off digits, they will eat cats, rats, birds and will do a number on bones as well. Hmmm, I think that about covers it. Pigs unquestionably do not refuse to eat flesh. The hogs that I raised typically reached between 300-400 pounds before going to market. |
is this the reason why Muslims/Jewish folks dont' eat pork?
Or is there some other reason? |
Professional courtesy. |
yeh thats the guy she was working on... they didnt find bodies they found small pieces... they dug down to bedrock over several acres as the guy had pigs an a backhoe |
OMG, it's funny cuz it's sooooo true! |

Farm raised.. don't know Feral..( at least Guat feral).... absolutely |
I saw something similar in central america, back in the early '80s. That sight is permanently burned into my brain. Coulda done without seeing that. Ughh..... |
It was a common practice in Sardinia, one of the major italian islands, when a kidnapping was ending bad (ransom not payed or revenge...) to kill ther hostage and give his body to pigs. They could destroy any evidence... |
Try going to TN boar hunting with a bow, sticking the pig wrong and having him chase you up a tree cause he's pissed. No doubt in my mind that they will consume a human!
Why does it make them filthy? Ever had bacon? A steak? Does that make you a filthy creature? Not trying to flame. |
ABSOLUTELY!!
You left out rattlesnakes! For that matter, ANY snake! Their hide is too thick for poisonous snakes to hurt them. Used to be a joke at the large confinement operation up the road from me - fall in a finishing pen and all they will find in the morning is your tennis shoes!! No doubt will be considerable first-hand experience with this issue if there is ever a full scale attempt at gun confiscation in this country. Help your porcine allies - crush the skulls as they are hard for pigs to break up. |

My grandfather's brother fell into the boar pit and got knocked unconscious for a couple minutes. When he woke up a boar had chewed his ear off. True story. Circa 1960.

I'm assuming you are serious. The anchient ban on pork by many was based on two major facts. They did tend to eat anything and were noted for rickets which is caused by a parasite with devestating health effects on people. It was easy to relate the two. Modern farming methods and health procedures (proper cooking) have all be eliminated this as a health hazard but decades of tradition if far more enduring. Tj |

Yeah, those pigs can be a little long winded " hey, did you see that feinstein, babe, snort, snort" |
Wild pigs are actually fairly clean and will eat anything that don't eat them first. A friend of mine was hunting one day on a large ranch. There was a dead cow in one of the pastures, as he approached the cow he noticed that it started moving. He put his scope on the dead cow as he drove up on it. When he got within about a hundred yards a pig crawled out of the cows gut cavity and ran off, he was green from one end to the other.
Talk about getting into what you eat. |
Oh Yes! A pig will definately eat you given half a chance!
When I lived in Ireland back in the 60's a toddler on the next door farm was eaten by a pig that escaped its sty. The childs mother went insane… literally…It was a horrible incident and the talk of the town for many months. IIRC, one of the reasons for the historical 'not eating pork' thing is because a pig is one of the few domestic animals that will eat a human. ANdy |

So these two pigs are eating a clown....................................................
one pigs turns to the other and says................... Does this meat taste "funny" to you? Seriously though, Why wouldn't a pig eat a human? Just like a shark, Alligator,Lion, Bear, etc.......Were just something to eat if the opportunity presents itself. The fact that we build roads, fly planes etc. don't mean shit to an animal. |
