Right now, it's violent mobs and "snipers" in NO.  With this much SHTF after a storm what will happen if we have an organized attack on all of our refineries or other utility providers?

.gov cannot or will not help many of the victims in this situation.  From NO reports I hear of officers looting they may even be part of the problem.  Armed mobs and snipers are said to be covering looters.  I cringe at the thought of rapes and violent crimes all over the area.

Could this be used as an example to remind folks all over why they need non-sporting military type firearms?  Will people even remember this in six months?

The big part is "will they remember this is six months"

But riots, lawlessness and natural disasters have been the big selling points for the repeal of gun control for the last decade.  But the intensity waxes and wains.

Nope. The sheeple have been trained to think that only bad things happen with guns.

That said, SOME people will come around. Even if they hate guns they might "see the light".

(and some really do: People on Fark formerly staunchly anti-gun are seeing what the 2A was written to do: Keep us safe from tyranny. Unfortunately they think the Bush administration constitutes said tyranny...)

Yes, this will help IF NRA (for example...)  will act responsibly.

Looters are losers and not surely law-abiding citizens.

Stress the fact that CRIMINALS will ALWAYS HAVE GUNS, despite any attempt of any govt. to restrict RKBA.

Stress the fact that Authorities, in such big disasters, cannot very often put orders and make interventions to save citizens lives. NO is not Baghdad, but ANYWAY looting and armed crime is happening under police nose.

Stress the VERY FACT that in such circumstances the only one that can survive to armed looters is ARMED LAW ABIDING CITIZENS.

Instead of fighting Law Abiding Citizens, Police and Govt. should fight LOOTERS and call to COLLABORATE the armed Law abidign citizens.

Putting this clear and simply inside public opinion. Repeat until every american gets the message loud and clear. It will work.
