My opinion:

There is a little bit of "Predator" in every man - no matter how domesticated, married or whipped he has become.   Pornography, photography, BOTD posts - even just looking at women on the street:  all of these things can tie back into that primitive urge of conquest.  Having a spouse, boyfriend (or having an actor pretending to be one), just ratchets up the almost subconscious ego saying "she'd rather be with me even though she promised herself to that guy!"

This is why so many movies and photos show only the female actress looking into the camera (the man is either cut out of frame or looking at the actress).   This suggests to the viewer (you) that the woman sees you and thus by extension wants you - perhaps even more than the other person in the photos/movies/whatever.   It's a way of making the show more personal, and tying into the observer's imagination of actually being there.  

I also think this is why so many young men love to chase "taken" women, it adds to the excitement and fuels their egos via the conquest of a more difficult "catch."   In my opinion, BOTD posts also play into this because the women have husbands, who are members here:  it's slightly more personable, and thus more erotic to have a connection to the women (ie seeing their husbands post) or being akin to seeing the neighbor's daughter washing her car in a bikini.  Same as with affairs - it's the THRILL of stealing a woman away and not getting caught, etc.

The flip side is that someone's wife is posted in BOTD, she is told how sexy she is, and this reaffirms the man's perception of having (and keeping) a wife out of his league, etc - it makes him feel good because he's managed to keep his woman who is so hot that all these other men would pursue her, etc.

It's just a better fantasy because it's more personal than a total stranger with no name posting photos on the internet.   No... "it's _____'s girlfriend with a "FU AROCK" sign that's datestamped today, and she posted it just for me!"    That doesn't mean that people are sluts or that there's anything wrong with BOTD - I'm just saying that - in my opinion - there are some basic impulses that are satisfied in the manner as stated above, even if the participants are completely happy and monogamous.

As a team member who routinely asks for pics of other members wives/and or girlfriends, I can honestly tell you it's because I prefer "real" women to airbrushed Hollywood type female pics. The best looking women are the ones who don't need much or any makeup. It literally get "all horned up" when the wife is doing her household chores like vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and making sammiches.

She's not all dolled up while performing these chores either. I for one, can appreciate a "real" woman that doesn't have plastic tits and facial reconstruction just to look like the latest celebrity of the month. I myself have not been able to post pics of my wife because she won't let me. I'd do it anyway, but if she found out, she'd lose a little bit of trust with me and that's not something I'm willing to do. I''' keep trying though.


ETA- If you've never seen a hairy asshole, then you must be very young. It was the norm in porn until sometime in the 90's. IIRC.
