I been thinkin
America and Australia are pretty similar except our system of government is different and we have less people and our laws are slightly different, but "everyone" hates Americans but loves Australians? The only reasons I can think of why they hate the US is penis envy or cos America makes piss weak beer. I think its the beer

Because we are the most powerful nation on the face of the planet. Penis envy. The Europeans are upset because we are what they used to be, and the rest of the world is upset because they want the nice house and the car and all that shit. Thats what I think it is at least.

Because he is arrogant. I like him, but its true. Of course his detractors, Kerry, Chirac, Schroeder and the like are also extremely arrogant too. I fucking hate arrogant Eurotrash motherfuckers. IMHO The reason most people hate America is because it is the only true democracy in the World.
Your Constitution say 'We the People' make the rules… in most countries this does not hold true, the Gov proposes and does what it likes, I could not see your AWB laws being overturned anywere else in the world. ANdy |

I personally would not be able to live in a parliamentary system such as yours. I loved Great Britain though, and I would like to visit again. There just ins't enough control over the government by the people. |

You see the rest of the world has to make stronger beer, just so they can get drunk faster and try to forget about the fact that AMERICA walks large, and has a SWINGING DICK..... Well thats how I understood your post anyway...... OK, Now serious, I believe it is due to the fact, that America, is a land of plenty, and oppertunity, has abundant natural resources, has a economy that is the worlds best, is a first class devolped country whose citizens enjoy a way of life like non other in the world, can guarntee at least a high school education to all its children, has FREEDOM written into its government, although we have a faction that want to remove freedom from our government. The list would go on and on, but I believe these are some of the reasons the world hates America... |

The USA has been involved in many "police" actions around the world in the past few decades. It is like being a cop and being called to a domestic incident. They called you for help but once you arrive they are all against you. Has created what was posted by someoneelse here as the "illusion of control". I would prefer at this point that we only come to the assistance of our closest allies if they request such as Australia and Britain.

It is because the rest of the world is essentially one big trailer park. A bunch of ne'erdowells that are jealous of what someone has but is too lazy to get off their ass to make it for themselves. Every third world country has the mineral/people resources to build their economy into something but they prefer to have a socialist government give them something for 'free' than work for it.
I'm around a lot of immigrants and they all say that Americans work too hard plus don't take enough vacations. I retort that is why America is a great country and we're doing better than anywhere else, so if they don't like working so hard that they can go back to Iran/Nigeria/Mexico/Russia where people can take time off. That may be right, but it is not the whole truth. Many out there hate us because we won't just give them what they think they deserve, whether it is free money, free food, free market share, free medicine, etc. There are a lot of people out there who shamelessly believe that their poverty imposes a lien upon those who aren't impoverished. They go around demanding that we give them something because we owe it to them, and then don't understand why we don't see the wisdom of their beliefs. I can always tell which lefties read foreign newspapers and which don't. |

Ya envy has alot to do with it...and race.
France is for french Germany- germans China, Japan,etc.etc. we are powerful, rich, and clever, and a nation of mixed breeds. And that really screws with culutral/racial indentities that are tied to nationalism. was to Syndey, (on R&R long ago), and it looked and felt alot like America. I like the Aussie surplus ammo, and I like the beer too! |

We're the only country strong enough to be the "strong arm" of the world, which other countries seem happy to use us as. We became the worlds policemen because the world needed us to, not because we really wanted to. Then along came Bush and the world realized they couldn't control us like some paid bodyguard and that when it really came down to it, we could use that world spanning power that they love to exploit for our own uses too, and they can't really stop us. Then it all comes down to judgement, and we all know europe judges things different than we do, but they are effectively helpless. I think thats part of the reason, a lot of the foreign articles I read mention that many like Americans, just not America Itself, partly due to the reasons above.

Because we have a unique combination of military and economic power unmatched anywhere else. Because we don't have to kiss their ass it makes them crazy!
Much of the world is ruled by dictators of one type or another. ALL dictators hate us because we would like to see every dictator overthrown and replaced by a representative government of some sort. Those that have some freedom such as England or Austrailia regret that they have allowed the elitists to destroy a good deal of their freedom. SOcialists are totalitarian in nature and have control of much of the world. They have made great inroads here but have not gained total control - yet. Why does this bother other countries? Misery loves company!! We have saved the Europeans from themselves several times and it frustrates them. They well know we are doing it AGAIN. It points out to them just how weak and indecisive they can be. They want our money, our protection but they want to tell us how to do things. The upstarts who threw the English out over 200 years ago STILL thumb their noses at the "old world". I like the Brits and the Crocks - a lot; just wish they would throw the socialists out and join us in a greater level of freedom. Are we arrogant? SURE! When you got the power and the wealth it ain't arrogance, it is just FACT! |

We are more successful, more powerful, richer, better, whatever than them. We invented the telephone, the computer, the internet, factory-line mass-production, most medications, and a shitload of other things that make their life tolerable. Plus, if you look beyond Bud and Coors and into Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, and most of our microbrews, we make some pretty damn good beer.

Common American beer sucks majorly. Common Australian beer is far superior to AMerican beer. Havent had any of that microbrew stuff but any beer from the US here isnt touched. I like that fancy schmancy European beer but my pov arse uni student me cant afford to pay $7.50 AUD a bottle. |

Different people hate America for diferent reasons. Extreme Muslims hate us because they have a grasp on the one truth, the worship the one true god, and yet they're completely backwards and hopeless, while the epitome of everything wrong and bad, the US, is the most powerful nation in the world. It drives them insane.
Europeans have always derided and looked down at the US in scorn, and now they see the US as the supreme power in the world while they're basically impotent. It drives them insane. I have been around the world twice and here is my opinion.
It is largely jealousy and misconception. The media spews crap about us all the time for a good story. Most people admire America. We help people we do not know and even die for these people. They are surprised by this, our level of sacrifice for others when it is not our problem. A quote from a lady in Beijing I was working with. "What do you think of America?" "We admire America, you are the creators of everything in the world." She spoke with sincerity, an immediate response. |

A big part of it is the international press who are regardless of nationality anti-American and very leftist. My wife was an international reporter for a few years and I got to meet some of those people. Left-wing, America-hating, arrogant and surprisingly dumb. But they make the news everyone sees.
