I was reading the news on my cell phone today and saw this story.

www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/12/12/iran.holocaust.conference.reut/index.html

Why does it seem everyone hates Israel? What have they done that is so horrible, that the entire middle east and a lot of the world refuses to recognize them as a separate country? All the middle eastern countries seem hell bent to destroy them?

Why do they feel they need to force their religion on them or kill them?

I'm sure the answer is in the bible, but I haven't been to church as much as I should have.

Repressed anti-semetism on the part of Europeans and jealousy on the part of the Palistinians that the Israelis turned the desert green.  Arabs hate them because now they have to deal with the Palestinians, and its helpful to keep repressive governments in power by diverting anger of the people towards a external source: Israel

You mean all those countries that signed peace accords with Israel, and recognized it's right to exist?

It's a long and complicated answer, and it goes back to the last days of World War One.
I'll try and make it simplified.
The Brit's promised Palestine (this is debated) and Transjordan to the Arabs, for an independent Arab homeland, in return for revolting against the Ottoman Empire.
Not long after that the Brit's told the Zionists that they looked with favor upon the creation of a Jewish homeland in Palestine.

Long story short, many in the Middle East see Israel as a living example of the West's interference in their internal affairs.
Israel makes a convenient whipping boy whenever people start to question their oppressive gov'ts - just trot out Israel.

I asked this question 20+ years ago.

I was told it was two fold.

Some blamed Jews for the death of Christ.
Others felt the Jews dominated the world's finances.

I couldn't understand the whole concept as a young man.....and I still don't as an old guy.

Fact: Jews were the brains behind the Confederacy:

Fact: Maj. Adolph Proskauer led the unit at Gettysburg .

Fact: Judah P. Benjamin held 4 cabinet positions: Attorney General, February
25 to September 17, 1861,; Secretary of War, September 17, 1861, to March
18, 1862; acting Secretary of War, March 18 to 23, 1862; Secretary of State,
March 18, 1862, until the end of the war) and was referred to as "the brains
of the confederacy."

Fact: Rabbi Max Michelbacher was a confidant and spiritual advisor to
General Robert E. Lee.

Fact: A great many Jews fought for the Confederacy, and the overwhelming
were recent immigrants from Germany &East Europe who felt they were fighting
for Democracy. They fought far out of proportion to their numbers.

The Arabs didn't have much of a problem with the Jews until they started immigrating to Palestine, encouraged by the Zionist movement, around the turn of the century.  The Jewish exodus became larger after WWII.

Europe on the other hand, has had a history being anti-Semitic.  Jews were viewed as being outsiders in every Nation and they were outsiders by choice, they didn't assimilate much. They were money brokers because nobody would hire them.  People became jealous of their percieved wealth.

You can't blame the Jews for wanting a seperate homeland for themselves because every nation on Earth has treated them poorly.  On the other hand...How would you feel if a bunch of illegal (and they were illegal in the late '40s) moved into your state and decide to create a seperate country that was favorable to themselves.  Maybe the people in the south/west can understand.

I know I'll get flamed for not being on the Jewish bandwagon and the Arabs are not innocent either.  Whatever.

That's quite a comment considering that, nearly 200 years after the birth of Christ, Rabbis were still arguing over when it was acceptable to sacrifice your children to the pagan god Molech.

MISHNA VIII.: If one gives one of his children to Molech, he is not guilty unless he had transferred him to the servants of Molech and let him pass through the fire. If, however, he had transferred and not passed through the fire, or vice versa, he is not guilty.

According to the Mishna, you can give your child to the priests of Molech to be sacrificed as long as they didn't burn the child to death (as was the common practice in offering sacrifices to Molech) or you can burn the child to death yourself. Either way, you were exempt from punishment.

Guess I'll be the one to say it then. I have a swimming pool service business, I have some Jewish customers, they are ALL a major pain in the ass. I really believe they think they can take money with them when they die. I got into an arguement with an 80+ yo Jewish woman that I have had on account for 10 years over a $3 charge. She needed a $3 chemical put in her pool and I added it, she wrote me a 2 page letter explaining why she shouldn't have to pay for it. This woman has a 2.6 million condo on the Las Vegas Strip she or anyone else has never lived in, the house I service is easily a 5 million dollar house. a $3 charge is what this woman is concerned about. That is just the tip of the iceberg in stories I have of customers in my business. I'll take an athiest or Christian customer anyday over a Jewish customer.

AGNTSA

It was called Palestine by the Romans, the Byzantines, the British, the French, and everyone else.

The term "Palestine" derives from the word Philistine, the name of a non-Semitic ethnic group, originating from Southern Greece, closely related to early Mycenaean civilization. They inhabited a smaller area on the southern coast, called Philistia, whose borders approximate the modern Gaza Strip.

British writers of the 19th century and very early 20th century sometimes referred to the Arabs of Palestine as "Philistines". This was apparently not due to a belief in a strong connection with the ancient Philistines, but merely reflects the former convention that "Philistine" simply denotes "native of Palestine".

Stating that there is no such thing as Palestine or Palestinians is historically dishonest.

It was a province of Rome, and was named Syria Palaestina in the 2nd century AD.

Also, by your logic, there is no such thing as an Israeli, since Jews have been kicked out of nearly every European country at some point in history.
