I have only been to Texas once, a weekend in Dallas. That is my experience with Texas. It was very nice.
I have known A LOT of people "From Texas." Mostly from the Dallas and Houston area. They all loved Austin. Most of them love Texas and couldn't wait to move back there. I have known A LOT of people who lived in Texas for awhile. Loved Austin. Couldn't wait to get out of Texas. ARFCOM Texans seem to hate Austin. At least, that is my stereotype. What is with the ARFCOM hatred of Austin, Tx? |
From what I've read here, it is full of liberals. I'm guessing that is the reason.

Was just there for a week. Loved all of it except traffic. The traffic was bad. Real bad.

No seriously, Austin was once the unspoken, sleepy quite, crown jewel of Texas. Nestled across the river from the Hill Country, deer hunting, U.T. football, academia and Barton Springs was our nucleus and that of Texas. it wasn't big, garish and hard like Dallas but small balanced and just...perfect.
When Charles Whitman, who was a scoutmaster and marksmanship instructor at my Boy Scout Summer camp, got on the U.T. Tower and started shooting, business owners pulled their .270's and other deer rifles out from the back rooms of their offices and shot back. Then the hippies came, the Vietnam War, free love, LSD and in the 90's the high tech boom and then it became music capital of the universe and party central and after that I don't know because I'm on drugs now. |

I go there about once a month to visit my brother-in-law. He lives in Pfluggerville. The traffic on 35 is all the reason I need to hate Austin. And I lived in Dallas for 8yrs.

It's our lefty looniebin, cut and dry. Plus UT.....FUCK UT....
Liberal fucks.
Welfare magnet. Went to a bookstore there once. They were selling a bumper sticker that said "capitalism sucks" I asked the college student working there if he understood the irony of selling that sticker for profit. He did not. Txl |

Pfluggerville. Pflugerville a few years ago was as clean a community as when it was settled by Swedish farmers. Now, I hear it sucks too. |

I drive up and down I35 almost everyday during morning and lunch hour.
I don't know if I'm just desensitized or if it really isn't that bad. |
It's a "progressive outpost" for people who moved from California.

Austin made its reputation 30 years ago as a hip and cool place to relax, party and listen to great music. Now it's a destination for Tech millionaires, fat middle aged schoolteachers and shitty blues bands. It's the home of UT's 50,000 students and their new and awesome attitudes. All of the state funded social programs are based there along with the freeloaders who benefit from them.. The tech industry has driven the real estate prices through the roof on the cool and funky neighborhoods, The middle class immigrants have built McMansions on every square foot of open space and flooded the schools with their spawn.. The explosive growth from the flabby rust-belt refugees and their minivans has choked the roads.
It used to be a cool place. Now, it's Dallas. |

Austin is Texas's "spot on the lung" that is worrisome, and needs to be operated on before it spreads.

"Progressive" ruled, and poorly at that. Sky-high utility rates because of the commitment to "green" energy. Forgoing meaningful traffic and road solutions to push empty trains and bicycles. Huge cost overruns on pretty much every project, and a large number of those projects are . A City Council and Chief of Police who would gladly Feinstein every gun you own. A new city council member whose only experience is as a lobbyist (now unemployed) for the Workers Defense Project, and as a "community organizer." Constant lawsuits filed against the city, with the council constantly hiring outside lawyers. Paying off lawsuits at the drop of a hat without much deliberation. Uber politically correct. Planning to use tax dollars to build a statue of BHO.
Oh, and it's a "sanctuary city." The want to spend millions of our tax dollars to build a new jail. Why you ask? That's because our fearless leaders don't want city cops taking their prisoners to the county lockup, because the Sheriff's Dept. cooperates with the feds in identifying and detaining suspected illegals. They want the poor illegals housed in a nice. comfortable jail before they're cut loose. That's just the tip of the iceberg. |

Because of 2H- hipsters and hippies
Austin is my go-to fun spot in Texas. Despite the left leaning culture, and the absolutely worst infrastructure/ roadway system this side of Atlanta, it is an awesome place. History Culture Partying People watching Beautiful scenary. |

No liberals. Just hard working honest people. Population in 1980 was about 200k. Today the population of Austin and surrounding areas is pushing 2 million. It's been an influx of people from California and the northeast. It's rare that I meet someone who is my age that is from here as well, and when I do, we have an instant connection. The larger Austin grows, the further away I move. FYI - the worst part about Austin now is the Police Chief, Art Acivedo, from California. The City Council sucks balls too, as they keep pushing liberal agenda. The city is going to shit. |

I love Austin like I love California. It's really great except for the people.
I lived in Austin from '75 to '79 and it was a great place. From what I hear, it started going downhill not too long after I left.
Austin is full of scumbag leeches hanging out on the corners holding signs begging...they are all just down on their luck...etc...fuckin' scumbags...I want to run their sorry asses over when I see them...don't see them like that in other parts of texas...at least not in the numbers in austin...
If you are Lamar blvd heading towards airgas, right before you get to the Asian section there is a long fence with "Stop Gentrification" painted on it...you know that neighborhood is full of liberal shitbags.... |

I like Austin, minus the traffic and a good 95% of the people.
Meh. I like Austin. Most people here are just parroting the bullshit they read here.
Once you've seen Waterloo Records just go to the Salt Lick- that is if the anti-war protestors don't drive you away from the music store.
Austin is to Texas what San Fransisco is to California. Austin has the state government, THE college, great outdoor activities, lot's of art's, and a nice climate so it has it's advantages. But it's also where most of the Pinko Commie Hippie Fags live. So it's real liberal and full of Libtards.

Nothing wrong with Austin, its just those damn Californians that moved there 20 years ago that made it the socialist slum that it is today.
I remember Austin when it was small. |

Fuck most of Austin. I said most cause not all of the folks down there are liberal pieces of shit, but most are.

Austin sucks. Really.
It's not even a nice place to visit. You'd hate it. |
