It amazes me sometimes. Supposed EXPERTS!

I purchased McGills "Tactial AR15" today and I watched it this afternoon. Larry Crow was naming parts and AR rifle styles INCORRECTLY! He's suppose to be some kind of expert. Sorry Larry, but you should have done a better job on that video.

Yeah, like that will help someone figure what they need.

Gun dealers, police officers, government officals, BATFE personnel, elected officials, video makers, supposed gunsmith experts, gun show commandos, deer hunters, black rifle owners...WHY can't they get even the most simple things right? I am seeing this OVER and OVER and OVER lately.

Today at the gun show, I heard a gun dealer telling a guy WAY incorrect information and I felt like going up and saying, "If you DON'T know what you are talking about, SHUT UP!!!"

There was another guy telling someone else that you didn't need to go through the ATF to purchase a full auto M14. That' it was just if you purchased your full auto from out of state.

All they do is make it harder for the gun owners to defend our Rights.

Like that Google/You Tube video where the "California" SHERIFF says that fully automatic firearms are ILLEGAL! What the ??? Now, someone that doesn't know that much about firearms, but is a firearm owner, is going to tell everyone that the guy shooting the legally owned full auto, is a criminal and will probably call the cops. Or if you are shooting a legally owned full auto at the range, one of the neighbors is going to call the cops and tell them that someone is shooting an "illegal" gun, because they saw this video (sheriff) that said they are "illegal".

Sorry, but after seeing this SO much lately, it's just nuts. People become spelling nazis, but I'd think it's more important to get information correct, as to not hurt our cause than to point out..."you missed a letter".

Is it just me seeing more than normal stupidity or is it getting REALLY bad?

Rant over.

The one example you gave was good, but why do you not say exactly what was wrong in the video or what the other pewrson said thet was incorrect?
Give us the details so we can either laugh at thier ignorance or tell you that you are wrong.

What how most people think NFA stuff is totally illegal, or that you need a Class 3 "license" to own them?

Sorry DoubleFeed, I don't get what you are saying.
They have permitted themselves to think sloppily, express themselves sloppily and then blame others for misunderstanding them, dismissing complaints with "Oh you know what I mean!"

Oh, ok, I get it..thanks. And yeah, I think you're right about that one. There's a lot of that. Or...it doesn't really matter that much.

This was a video for legislators, from what I gather, and full autos may be illegal in California, but are not in most of the other states. And this police officer was talking about "assualt weapons vs. assault rifles"...and we all know how assault rifles and their owners are treated in California. Here's a link..

This gentleman did a pretty good job, but the illegal full auto reference is just wrong.

"Give us the details so we can either laugh at thier ignorance or tell you that you are wrong."

A couple of examples, there are more...

1. He calls an "A2" AR15 an "A1" AR15.
2. He calls a buffer tube...a "action tube"

There are a LOT more, but it just get's worse as it goes along. Misnaming stuff isn't horrible, but a "expert" gunsmith getting things wrong, time after time...

I saw the CA Sheriff's presentation video a few weeks ago. I had the same issue as you did. Yes full auto is illegal in SOME states but not ALL. To be honest with you he did a really good job IMHO, all but  that one exception.

I believe most people take for granted what they are told by word of mouth rather than reading the written applicable laws. Remember we live in a time that personal accountability counts for ZIP.

What?

Most people "think" fully automatic firearms are COMPLETELY illegal and citizens CAN'T have them. Period.

You have NO idea how many times I have heard, "What? I thought those were illegal!", when I tell someone I'd like to purchase a full auto some day.

People just don't know, most gun dealers don't know, the average deer hunter/duck hunter/hobbie shooter...just DON'T KNOW! And that's one of the many things that are killing our 2nd Amendment Rights.

(YES, this was an excellent video, except for the illegal reference. But they just can't get it right.)

Yep...unless you have a run in with a police/ATF officer that want's to bust you for some UnConstitutional law. Like all of the arrests of Californians for nothing more than having an "assault weapon".
