Where is that "Ask a girl" thread when you need it?
IM to text is my new best friend but why? My guess is the committment of time it takes to answer a text = time and committment. And it's kind of like passing notes. But most guys I know consider it a necessary evil or bare minimum way to communicate vital info whereas girls love to text you on all sorts of things... |

That way you can't hear their REAL boyfriend in the background as he hurls insults about you interrupting his pie
Edited to appease grammar nazi |

Because they are girls.
It's bullshit. I don't do it anymore. Swore not to. Had this one chick that liked to fight over text messages. It's like they want to see if you're going to be girly too and put up with it. F that. |

Texting is great, it eliminates the timbre of 'nag' or 'whine' and reduces it to pure data which can be noted, and likely ignored.
I mean, I'm texting right now! And we could simply be having a conversation on the phone!
I dont know but my wife went over by 1000 thats one thousand texts and cos me $100 on the bill. this was me when I saw the bill, this was her when i tolde her, this was me after she made it up to me
I refused to do it until i met a chick last year and that was the only way she comunicated aside from face to face
I have to admit once i got to doing it it is handy |

I probably send somewhere around 250-300 a month. Some of my male friends send almost a thousand. Some of my female friends send several thousand. |
At work I catch them sneaking around texting all the time. Pisses me off.

I hate texting. My last GF did it alllllllll the time qft my ex is a textaholic.. it got fucking old.. REALLY quick |
Girls used to slip each other notes in class all day.
Texting is the same, but quicker. |
Because women are defective by nature... I used to believe that it came from parenting/mommy, but seeing all sorts of friend's daughters from birth until 5,6,7,8,9... I realize that females are born screwed up.
Because they are women and women can't STFU. Not even when they STFU.

Texting is almost as dumb as using your cell to post on website forums.

Some women will text interesting things they'd probably not actually be able to muster over the phone... it can be quite interesting!
Other than that, it can be useful if used properly. |
Constant gossip all day long.
You don't need that carbon removal tool up there. Stupid waste of money. Just use a stripper clip. God, the shit people try to sell us. Sorry. |
It's the 21st century version of passing notes. Now why do chics like passing notes so much?

There's a place for it. I prefer it over having a full conversation sometimes.

Because it's a method of communicating with both: 1) incomplete conveyance of emotion and 2) response delays that can be dwelled upon... What chick doesn't love such a disfunctional and baiting method of relating to others.
I'm texting right now. I'm in a conversation with two different girls and my neighbor, all while at work! Texting is the best thing since IMs back in the 90s!!
I prefer texting to actually having a phone conversation most of the time. It avoids all the awkward silence and hints that I want to get off the phone.
Texting can be a blessing and a curse.
I have a few people that love to text me random bullshit, but it can be a silent way of conveying info to the wifey while at work like shopping lists or other things, and it is a persistant send sort of thing so in disasters it can get through when phone calls cant.... Usually when I need to communicate with someone there is no need for a real phone call, just a piece of information about an event or something that doesn't need to awkwardness or time consumed by actual speaking to one another. I treat it like mobile email, not a chat line.... |
I don't get it either. I couldn't text to save my life and have no plans on rectifying that situation.
to quote something from the cartoon the Boondocks...
"What the hell are you doing?" "Sendin bitches messages.....bitches love messages." that is why |
Love texting.
Quick, concise, no chit chat, no wasted time. I text a lot more often than I make phone calls. |
I'll only text when it's something very simple that can be achieved in one sentence or less, and it's faster than calling.
"bring home beer" see? very easy. |
I like texting so much that I bought a phone with a keyboard. Pecking letters is for suckas.
My buddy tries to text me all the time. I keep telling him I'm not a 14 year old girl.
I prefer to text and I hate chatting on the phone. When I see guys just aimlessly chatting away on a phone it looks like something a teenage girl would do. I like texts because I can get to it when I want to as opposed to someone calling me while I am doing something. My phone calls to a buddy is usually hey, wanna do something? ok what? Ok where? Ok when? see ya. If I am on the phone for more than 5 minutes something has gone wrong. So texting with my blackberry is basically how I use my phone.
I think chicks like it because they can still effing chat even when calling is not appropriate. But then again at 44 most of the women I know are beyond that whole teeny bopper talking all the time shit. |
Women have smaller, petite hands and it's easier for them to use the small keyboards for texting.
Texting allows brief, informative messages where a telephone call requires a greeting and a goodbye which can be a time sink. |
I think it's ironic that the OP's screenname is a Text abbreviation... IDK ?
Look at it this way. Myself and some of my friends are single guys. We are not texting women. Women out number men population wise. This means that each of the women you see on the phone talking or texting is communicating with one of 3+ guys trying to hit it. I know it is not me talking to or texting her...
Texting has useful applications. It's not meant IMO to be substituted in place of a phone call, though.
I will text someone when I know they are working, because voice mail sucks. ETA - If your girl wants to get into an argument about something, it also is a record of exactly what she said. It CAN be useful at times... |
