In 2000 I voted for Bush because I believed in him. I wanted to see an end to the nation building, gun control, high taxes, globalism and heavy handed federal law enforcement that defined the Clinton Administration. 9/11 changed alot of things, but by 2004 Bush had rolled back the gun control and high taxes. The nation building in Afghanistan was obviously necessary.
Then there was the glaring lack of competition in 2004. Aside from the fact that John Kerry was the complete opposite of everything he tried to portray himself as (war hero man of the people type ) everything that he suggested was basically the worst idea ever. So, I voted for Bush again in 2004. In the 10 months since then, I've become more than a little disappointed with the performance out of El Presidente but given the circumstance I can't exactly say that I regret my decision. Your reasons please... |
He was the right choice during his 1st term, and superior to Senator Flip-Flop. Now we need more tax cuts and another nation to invade.
Big huge +1. I am no Republican, but I fucking hate Democrats. |
+1 yep, same here. |
I didn't vote for Bush as much as I voted against Kerry.
If its a choice between McCain and Clinton in 2008... I'll probably vote Badnarik. |
You mean there's a difference? |
Because I knew President Bush would stomp a mudhole in terrorist ass!!!
w00t! PwN3d! |
Quoted:
If its a choice between McCain and Clinton in 2008... Where is the Republican? All I see is socialists. |
I have never liked Bush, but I voted for him for one reason and one reason alone... SCOTUS judges.
He wasn't Kerry( or insert other libetard). Other than that I have no good reason.
ETA: Yeah SCOTUS judges, we'll see about that one |
I like Bush. He's a straight shooter.
He loves his wife, family, and country dearly and it shows. There's no acting going on there., there is true emotion and caring. That is my idea of a good man. He also believes in allowing us to keep more of our hard earned money no matter what and that is what I want in a poltician. One who realises they don't deserve our money to fuck around with and give to the lazy among us. |
What, the Democratic party is running two candidates? |
I get cold easily.
Bush seemed to be for Global Warming so it seemed like a good idea. |
My point exactly. At that stage, voting Republican just to defeat the Democrat candidate is pointless. |
Then you may as well vote for Clinton. Thanks for supporting the second ammendment and low taxes...... |
You are totally right! Go Socialism Lite! |
How would McCain be any better than Clinton in either of those issues? You may as well vote for Clinton if you vote for McCain because they have the same damn beliefs in those areas (and many more). |
NEWS FLASH, knuckleheads. McCain will NEVER win a Republican Primary. We WILL have a choice in '08.
McCain and Clinton are both for gun-control and destroying freedom. Just look at the record. McCain was for the Campaign Finance Reform which is basically a way to limit free speech.
Y'all need to remember that were it not for Nader, Gore would have won in 2000. Let that burn in really good... Higher taxes, more 'programs', no AWB sunset, a faster exodus of jobs offshore, etc...
Sometimes you have to vote defensively. |
I promise, brother. He'll never make it. (BTW, congrats on the new position you recently aquired.) |
On a pro gun website like this, with most members being conservative . . . . how the heck could the poll show 29% - did not vote for Bush ???
Does that mean they didn't vote or They voted for Kerry ? what . . .why . . . ? |
I voted for Bush, both times, for the simple reason that
I TRUST Bush. He will do the right thing, to the best of his abilities, as best he can. And he will surround himself with folks that can be trusted to give him good advice. Of course, he is a politician. So trust is relative. DanM |
Would Gore have pushed CAFTA? And the AWB was going to sunset. Before you can send a bill to be signed by the President it has to be passed by congress first. Bush had nothing to do with the AWB sunset b/c congress never reauthorized. In fact, didn't he promise to sign it if they did reauthorize it? About the only thing he's gotten right domestically is his attempt at tax reform. Didn't get all he wanted, but better than nothing. |
troll voting. Don't buy into it. |
Exactly. Plus he's a senator. Too long of a record to bash, just like Kerry. Look to the Republican Governors for the next candidate. |
I voted for Bush for one reason and one reason alone. He is the better man.
President Rick Perry? |
Holy pooh! You just get out or something? |
Exactly. When a man is described as a "boy scout" by those around him that dislike his ways, that is the kind of guy I want as President. And Andy, Clinton pushed Nafta, I believe Gore would have pushed Cafta. |
Now that's a man I'd be DAMN proud to vote for!!! |
He fraud me, make sure he make a great deal with me an then he fraud me. I am beware now of the Clique Mob and the Governor of my state who is Bush good frien and are outside my door waiting him to call.
He's just happy that he got to watch Red Wings hockey tonight. |
I concur, this past election wasn't for who anybody wanted in office, it was about who they didn't want. I pretty much cast my ballot for Bush because I don't need a Massachusetts(sp?) liberal in the Oval office. That mentallity up there is more threatening to this country than Iran or North Korea could ever hope to be. |
+1 |
Don't be naive... Technically, you are correct, but you are missing the political component. Bush was MIA in AWB discussions. Had he gotten out there and flogged the issue, the press would have made it a nightly discussion making every Rep or Sen that opposed it's renewal look like Sarkis Soghanalian (A Dennis Miller pull from the inventory). Personally, I'm of the belief that if it wasn't for the Iraq war, the press would have indeed focused on the AWB FAR more than they did. |
How has Bush been a disappointment?
Buncha closet dems here, I see. |
Early release for good behavior. |
Bush isn't perfect, but he's a far greater choice than Kerry.
If there was another election tomorrow and it was Bush vs Kerry or Bush vs. Hillary, I'd pull the lever for Bush again. But I must say, Reagan could have been my president for life. |
Reagan gave us bullshit gun laws as well. So far, only Bush hasn't fucked with the 2nd and seems to be on track to strengthen it.
I voted for Bush because I Love my Country and didn't want to see it destroyed by a bunch commie bastards hell bent on taking what few rights I have left.
we would all be muslim by now if Gore or Kerry were in office
Yeah real good job with the borders and Vicente Fox. President Bush said he would sign a renewal of the AWB, correct ? I hate democrats and liberals with a passion but he has been a |
Gun rights, plus kerry had no plan, he talked a lot but could never walk the walk.
Your history is lacking. FOPA was a MASSIVE help to gun owners. The fact that someone tossed in an administrative closure of the tax payment system for MGs was a small part of it. I wish it wasn't there, but it failing to sign it because of that poision pill would have meant no repeals of certain components of the '68 GCA. Do you enjoy military surplus ammo? Do you enjoy military surplus guns? Do you enjoy protection from local anti gun laws while traveling? Or would you rather by .223 at your local guns store for $1 a round, with them required to log your purchase? |
