The real problem goes way beyond the election and who we 'elect'.

I still think he may pull off the nomination. If he does win the Presidency we need to keep Democrats from sweeping congress. What really needs to be changed is educating anti gun people, bombard them the same way they do towards everybody else on the issues they think are important.

Over 3+ decades I have spent time talking to many people who truly believe some form of a blended socialism/ communism would be beneficial to the US, and are working to make it happen. Not the Che T-shirt wearing slogan-spewing fist-pumping foot soldiers. Nor the FSA who are being used as the blunt instrument to break existing systems and force change. Nope - the true believers. These people are the ones donating money and time to support "appropriate" political candidates and far-left initiatives (like the Secretary of State Project, the NPVIC, just to name a couple). They might be your neighbor, or the co-worker in your office two cubicles over that way, or the nice quiet 50-something lady who is your child's home-room teacher. They generally do not discuss politics, especially with those who hold the Constitution in high regard. They have friends in high places and with deep pockets. They are the quiet and persistent force providing the "nudge", and they are fully committed. They embrace the progressive approach – all of them acknowledged they would probably never see the full change in their lifetimes. For them, any move towards the left is a victory, one more step in the march to transform the US, and they are perfectly OK with it if their grand-children are the ones who get to see the final product. These are the people who worry me. Unless they tell you, you'd never know what they hold in their heart. The saddest thing of all? We have people here on this forum that would be OK with some of these things, packaged a little differently, or as-is. So, here is a compilation of those true believers "vision" for the US of A. What surprised me was the almost uniform nature of the wish-list, minor variations were expressed mainly in the depth of the various programs. A couple of main themes to the underlying reasons for the changes desired existed as well – efficiency and environmentalism. Imagine that. Agriculture, industry, business, healthcare, housing, transportation, etc... is nationalized and becomes property of the State. Why? Efficiency. Instead of thousands of differing entities making decisions, central administrators would have plans and make decisions. Changes could be made in a faster and more efficient manner. Waste would be reduced as we produced and transported only what was necessary. Less waste means production of less environmentally hazardous materials/ emissions, smaller landfill requirements, etc... Housing and Transportation ALL towns and cities become centrally planned, designed, built and maintained. Central core with government offices, major hospitals and other services that need to be centrally located. Sub-stations with essential service serving several neighborhoods. Neighborhoods built around industrial facilities, agricultural cores, business centers, etc... with neighborhood cafeterias, recreational/ fitness facilities and parks, schools, and clinics. ALL housing will be efficient high-rise apartment structures. Singles will enjoy the carefree lifestyle of fully-furnished open-bay dormitories and community toilet/ shower facilities. Each floor will have a day-room with available radio and TV. Sexually segregated, of course. Married couples will have fully-furnished efficiency apartments. If they are successful in gaining approval to have a child, they will be able to move into a fully-furnished one bedroom unit. May as well mention relationships here... relationships would be regulated by the State, but no sex outside of marriage – can't have any of those nasty STDs eating up resources and making people too sick for work. Dating in a platonic matter would be fine. Finding a mate would need State approval, as would having a child.) Apartments with views, and larger than one bedroom in size, will be reserved for those who have positions of importance within society – and as an added perk, they will have the ability to choose their decor and furnishings. ALL transportation will be mass transit, except for transport used as perks. Why? Efficiency, again. This removes the health and fire hazards associated with having food storage and preparation in living quarters. This promotes population health due to the ability to control the type and amount of food consumed and the additional forced exercise due to having to walk/ bike to work or a public transport stop. This reduces transportation costs, time, use of nationalized resources, and emissions. And the perk of being able to own a car, or have a car and driver? Simply for enticement and/ or reward, it may get some people to work harder or do something more for society in order to improve their living situation. Education EVERYONE is aptitude tested at several stages of early life, starting in pre-school, in order to place the students in the proper training path so they can be best utilized for the needs of society. Some will follow a path into the military, others into the trades, others into government service, others into athletics or performing arts, and others into medical and science. Those who test so poorly as to not be trainable, will be placed into simple labor positions. Once in a path, you can only proceed along the path, or be "demoted" to lesser service. EVERYONE receives an education through High School levels, with concentration of studies in areas that will benefit your career path. Military officers, government functionaries, performance arts, science and medical will receive the appropriate amount of additional education deemed necessary. Why? And again, efficiency. With an added twist of doing what's best for society as a whole. Why waste resources on sending someone to college for a degree that they are not suited for and will most likely result in poor work performance? Why not maximize resources by placing people where they can best use their particular aptitudes? Why deny society the services of someone best suited to be a neurosurgeon because the selfish person wants to be an author? Why not have the minds and bodies best suited for military service, actually in the military? Etc... Pay and Benefits ALL monies generated form any source go directly to the government for proper distribution. EVERYONE receives a "living wage", which is only enough to to pay for personal incidentals because all clothing, housing, utilities, healthcare, education, food and transportation are provided. Your worth to society determines the amount of additional "perks" you receive on top of the living wage. Perks are increased food rations/ better quality food and drink, increased living space, increased recreation time/ activities, special group or private transportation instead of mass transit, better healthcare or preferential treatment instead of waiting months to see the doc, etc... EVERYONE works. If you are incapable of working due to advanced age or disability or illness, you go to the sanitarium. Why? Yep, you guessed it – efficiency. With a heaping pile of fairness. Except for those perks for people who are special. You know – to get people to strive to do better or more for the betterment of society. Healthcare EVERYONE receives healthcare at a level designed to maintain peak performance for your duties to society, inline with your value to society. Full "cradle-to-grave" system. There will be sanitariums to house those who are not capable of working due to age, physical disability, mental state, accident, etc... Minimal care will be provided, basically what is needed to make your final days kind of comfortable. No expensive drugs or specialized treatments once you go to the sanitariums. Why? Would you say efficiency? Ding! Winner winner chicken dinner! People who have no use to society are a net drain on resources and money. Why spend any more than necessary on those who can produce nothing, and will probably be dying soon anyways? Compassion? Yeah, like I mentioned, they will help make your (hopefully short) stay as comfortable as possible at minimal cost. Public Broadcasting ALL media will be owned by the State. Approved broadcasts will be designed to promote relaxation or vigor, at the appropriate times and venues. Patriotic broadcasts will always be available. Why? Efficiency! Happy relaxed people work better and are not going to be troublemakers. And, it will ensure the people get the real news, and not that nasty propaganda we see today. Work ALL work will be for the benefit of society. Working off the books for your personal benefit or participating in "black markets" will be considered crimes against society, and treated as Capitol crimes. Why? Umm... efficiency? Yep. Everyone works for the benefit if our beloved society. You do want to contribute to the greatness of our society, don't you? Crime and Punishment Criminal code will be simplified, to remove confusion and reduce trial and conviction times. Simple infractions will result in extra work time or loss of privileges. More serious infractions will result in time at a prison farm, or at a mine or heavy industrial site. Capitol crimes will be punishable by death. Capitol crimes include murder, negligent homicide, rape, child molestation, and crimes against society (judges have wide latitude in this area in order to help maintain a functioning society). Capitol crimes will be prosecuted without delay, and sentence carried out immediately after trial to ensure the desired deterrent effect. Why? And efficiency wins again. Added benefit of keeping the troublemakers quiet. Yeah yeah wall of text blah blah blah. Grow an attention span. There are people out there that want to seriously change things here. Have I mentioned lately how much I detest communists/ marxists/ progressives/ socialists? |

Quoted: Jaffa, you understand.., View Quote IMHO there's quite a few of us here that do. Whether or not we all agree on the degree of change the leftists want is another matter. As is people's willingness to post about it. I've had neighbors and co-workers and friends who escaped from behind the Iron Curtain, and I got to hear from them what life was like in their corners of purgatory. To hear Americans pining for some of that makes my heart go ice-cold. |

It's normal to fear death...in my opinion it's because we fear making our maker with the sins of our lifetime to answer for.
The only solution to this problem...also in my opinion is a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. When a person is secure in the knowledge that his sins are forgiven him then he can stand before God with a pardon in his hand. Without that gift of salvation purchased on our behalf by Jesus Christ we all stand condemned and have every reason to fear the moment we stand before God the father in judgement. |

I dont think Democrats will ever set up death camps. Just debt default, higher taxes, health care service shortages, high unemployment, rampant crime, a lower standard of living, lawlessness and corruption as everyday business, and an unending economic crisis.

Agriculture, industry, business, healthcare, housing, transportation, etc... is nationalized andbecomes property of the State. Why? Efficiency. Instead of thousandsof differing entities making decisions, central administrators wouldhave plans and make decisions. Changes could be made in a faster andmore efficient manner. Waste would be reduced as we produced andtransported only what was necessary. Less waste means production ofless environmentally hazardous materials/ emissions, smaller landfillrequirements, etc... Housing and Transportation ALL towns and cities become centrallyplanned, designed, built and maintained. Central core with governmentoffices, major hospitals and other services that need to be centrallylocated. Sub-stations with essential service serving severalneighborhoods. Neighborhoods built around industrial facilities, agricultural cores, business centers, etc... with neighborhoodcafeterias, recreational/ fitness facilities and parks, schools, andclinics. ALL housing will be efficient high-riseapartment structures. Singles will enjoy the carefreelifestyle of fully-furnished open-bay dormitories and communitytoilet/ shower facilities. Each floor will have a day-room withavailable radio and TV. Sexually segregated, of course. Married couples will havefully-furnished efficiency apartments. If they are successful ingaining approval to have a child, they will be able to move into afully-furnished one bedroom unit. May as well mention relationshipshere... relationships would be regulated by the State, but no sexoutside of marriage – can't have any of those nasty STDs eating upresources and making people too sick for work. Dating in a platonicmatter would be fine. Finding a mate would need State approval, aswould having a child.) Apartments with views, and larger thanone bedroom in size, will be reserved for those who have positions ofimportance within society – and as an added perk, they will havethe ability to choose their decor and furnishings. ALL transportation will be masstransit, except for transport used as perks. Why? Efficiency, again. This removesthe health and fire hazards associated with having food storage andpreparation in living quarters. This promotes population health dueto the ability to control the type and amount of food consumed andthe additional forced exercise due to having to walk/ bike to work ora public transport stop. This reduces transportation costs, time, use of nationalized resources, and emissions. And the perk of beingable to own a car, or have a car and driver? Simply for enticementand/ or reward, it may get some people to work harder or do somethingmore for society in order to improve their living situation. Education EVERYONE is aptitude tested at severalstages of early life, starting in pre-school, in order to place the students in the propertraining path so they can be best utilized for the needs of society. Some will follow a path into the military, others into thetrades, others into government service, others into athletics orperforming arts, and others into medical and science. Those who testso poorly as to not be trainable, will be placed into simple laborpositions. Once in a path, you can only proceed along the path, or be"demoted" to lesser service. EVERYONE receives an education throughHigh School levels, with concentration of studies in areas that willbenefit your career path. Military officers, governmentfunctionaries, performance arts, science and medical will receive theappropriate amount of additional education deemed necessary. Why? And again, efficiency. With anadded twist of doing what's best for society as a whole. Why wasteresources on sending someone to college for a degree that they arenot suited for and will most likely result in poor work performance? Why not maximize resources by placing people where they can best usetheir particular aptitudes? Why deny society the services of someonebest suited to be a neurosurgeon because the selfish person wants tobe an author? Why not have the minds and bodies best suited formilitary service, actually in the military? Etc... Pay and Benefits ALL monies generated form any source godirectly to the government for proper distribution. EVERYONE receives a "living wage",which is only enough to to pay for personal incidentals because allclothing, housing, utilities, healthcare, education, food andtransportation are provided. Your worth to society determines theamount of additional "perks" you receive on top of theliving wage. Perks are increased food rations/ better quality foodand drink, increased living space, increased recreation time/activities, special group or private transportation instead of masstransit, better healthcare or preferential treatment instead ofwaiting months to see the doc, etc... EVERYONE works. If you are incapable ofworking due to advanced age or disability or illness, you go to thesanitarium. Why? Yep, you guessed it –efficiency. With a heaping pile of fairness. Except for those perksfor people who are special. You know – to get people to strive todo better or more for the betterment of society. Healthcare EVERYONE receives healthcare at a leveldesigned to maintain peak performance for your duties to society, inline with your value to society. Full "cradle-to-grave"system. There will be sanitariums to housethose who are not capable of working due to age, physical disability, mental state, accident, etc... Minimal care will be provided, basically what is needed to make your final days kind of comfortable. No expensive drugs or specialized treatments once you go to thesanitariums. Why? Would you say efficiency? Ding! Winner winner chicken dinner! People who have no use to society area net drain on resources and money. Why spend any more thannecessary on those who can produce nothing, and will probably bedying soon anyways? Compassion? Yeah, like I mentioned, they willhelp make your (hopefully short) stay as comfortable as possible atminimal cost. Public Broadcasting ALL media will be owned by the State.Approved broadcasts will be designed to promote relaxation or vigor,at the appropriate times and venues. Patriotic broadcasts will alwaysbe available. Why? Efficiency! Happy relaxed peoplework better and are not going to be troublemakers. And, it willensure the people get the real news, and not that nasty propaganda wesee today. Work ALL work will be for the benefit ofsociety. Working off the books for your personal benefit orparticipating in "black markets" will be considered crimesagainst society, and treated as Capitol crimes. Why? Umm... efficiency? Yep. Everyone works for the benefit if our beloved society. You do wantto contribute to the greatness of our society, don't you? Crime and Punishment Criminal code will be simplified, toremove confusion and reduce trial and conviction times. Simple infractions will result in extrawork time or loss of privileges. More serious infractions will result intime at a prison farm, or at a mine or heavy industrial site. Capitol crimes will be punishable bydeath. Capitol crimes include murder, negligent homicide, rape, childmolestation, and crimes against society (judges have wide latitude inthis area in order to help maintain a functioning society). Capitolcrimes will be prosecuted without delay, and sentence carried outimmediately after trial to ensure the desired deterrent effect. Why? And efficiency wins again. Addedbenefit of keeping the troublemakers quiet. Yeah yeah wall of text blah blah blah. Grow an attention span. There are people out there that want to seriously change things here. Was about to post this in the Sanders thread before it was locked but was too late. I balk at Sanders because he's an avowed socialist and I grew up reading stories of holocaust survivors in Poland, Germany, and places like the Soviet states.. I was a depressing person then and now. I have no desire to see that stuff here but I fear it is only a matter of time and the thought truly haunts my every waking moment. The kind of gripping fear that leaves you powerless to stop it. I compare it to being on the beach and seeing a huge shark moving towards some children about neck deep in water. I shout warnings but they don't hear me due to the surf, I wave frantically but they don't see me. I know I can't help them and all I can do is watch as the screams and horror start... Lest we forget, Hitler never killed anyone. He merely ordered others to do so and it was done. Thinking it can't happen here only ensures that it will. There will be a group the Socialist hate and it's likely to include us among others the State dislikes. Being rich or having a useful skill for the economy will not outweigh their hate. I end this post on a picture: http://godfatherpolitics.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/1928-Germany-2013-Connecticut.jpg Proceed with the usual hate aimed my way. I think what Jaffa really meant was this, taken directly from the Communist Manifesto:
Nevertheless, in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable. 1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes. 2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax. 3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance. 4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels. 5. Centralisation of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly. 6. Centralisation of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State. 7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan. 8. Equal liability of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture. 9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country. 10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labour in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, We're already about halfway there. |

Generally, these people seem to have very high opinions of themselves whether or not they actually did anything to deserve it. The funny thing is, the ones that think and promote these ideals, somehow think they will be part of bourgeoisie. They won't be, they'll be digging potatoes with the rest of the proletariat. If I manage to get them to admit their ideals, I'll ask them why they think they'll be part of the ruling class and invariably they will say something about their intelligence or education. I'll remind them that Stalin killed the Intellegencia during the Great Purge right at the very beginning. |
