Any word on why the national mall was so empty during today's inauguration?
Did the protests keep people away? Yeah, I know, everybody's at work, etc. I'm serious, did the protesters cause this? |
Protestors and those hard at work paying for those fucks to protest on welfare.

The weather forecast was 90% chance of rain for most of the day and in the 40s.
My wife and I intended to go, she started in on a migraine last night so between that and the forecast we cancelled. |
Extremely liberal city, obviously the conservative turnout isn't going to be crazy. Also, those aerial shots I've seen wouldn't surprise me if the trump one was taken earlier in the morning to make it look worse.

Wanted to go with some of the kids, but not worth the potential headaches and safety issues of bringing an 11 year old out to something like this.

It was packed. The photos you're seeing on Facebook comparing it to Obama were taking at like 9 am where Obama was prob during the speech.
There is a pic floating around social media comparing Obama's inauguration to Trumps, and it's clearly a fake. The picture of Trump's was taken about 3 hours before the inauguration actually started, before it filled up. I wonder if this is what OP saw.
I would like to see how it compared to bush and Clinton inaugurations. Obviously obamas inauguration was going to be huge.
8 years of 0's stink don't wear off in hours. Who'd want to be around that?
The pictures comparing the two innagurations is propaganda. They showed the Trump picture that was taken hours before the inauguration.

It wasn't that empty. Also, 92% of the city voted for Hillary. http://i65.tinypic.com/otzr54.png View Quote That, is an awesome view! |

Last I read and heard was over 800K people attended the event, if you can pull in 800K, you are far better person than I am.
Obama's inauguration was not a normal event in this country, which would account for the extra amount of people that attended. |

1. Trump's voter base have jobs, we gotta work.
2. Most of DC voted for Hilliary, as already pointed out. They are scared shitless right now because Trump wants to give the bureaucracy a 20% haircut. 3. It's not out of the realm of possibility that some good people who might have wanted to take time off work and make the trip to see the inauguration were put off by the threats of violence from the peaceful tolerant leftists, especially when you consider that D.C. is a no self defense zone that forces you to be a helpless victim. 4. FBHO (just because) |
Other than were the protesters were I bet there will be a lot less trash to pick up.
I know of at least 5 people that live in the area that would have liked to go, but were worried about the protests getting violent.

View Quote Despite winning, he's not all that popular, which is a good sign that you're pissing off people on both sides of the aisle. It's a blowout compare to BHO and 2009 and not even close. Some will say that Trump supporters have jobs and BHO's don't, but that's just being cheeky. Disparity of crowds at the mall... Chris |

1. DC itself and most areas around it are overwhelmingly Democrat. I'm sure a significant amount of the attendees at the Obama inaugurations were fairly local. Metro ridership stats from today pretty much confirm the number of riders is noticeably lower than before. I know there are people who travel from all over the country for an inauguration, but I have to believe a large number who attend live within a few hours drive.
2. Threats of violence. So basically this event is being held in a Dem stronghold plus a fair bit of protesting means lower turnout. |
DC is 90% blue and is also 50% black. The first black Democratic president was bound to draw a bigger crowd than Trump.

View Quote First off it's VOX, talk about fake news. If you look at the sidewalks and streets in the Trump picture, they are quite full. Any common sense would show these are folks "headed" to the event. Good try though! |
I would guess work, rain and the desire to avoid potentially violent protesters all played a part.

View Quote Yes, white guilt elected an America hating muslim who did plenty to make America worse and who deliberately stoked racial tensions. Obama's election was not historic..it was a disgrace. |

My sister was laughing this am saying hey there is your Trump, the mall is empty where are all his supporters.
I said at work! She STFU ASAP. |
CBS News just reported that the Mall area was locked down. They didn't say why.

And thank you everyone for clearing that up. I am not surprised that the news deliberately posted an earlier pic.
Many thanks. |

If I was there, I'd have the Air & Space Museum all to my greedy self.

This thread .....why nobody showed up, other than the obvious answer, seems to be just the GOP edition of DNC's thread about "why Hilary lost" bwhahahah

Who cares? America won. View Quote He doesn't get kicked out of the White House for only having Crazy Bob in attendance. Hillary lost and he won and that's all that matters to me. Some people here, just can't accept the fact that electing the first ever, half black President, could possibly pack in more people then 'grab her by the pussy' DJT. Denial is a fickle mistress.
