Zombies. We will say fast zombies. For the sake of argument most of us can agree that fast zombies are worse than slow zombies.
They are everywhere. If you get bit you become one. People you know can become zombies. The human population gets smaller as the zombie population grows.

Velociraptors. Fast, smart, teeth and claws. But you don't have to shoot the head to kill. Consider for the scenario that somehow a massive number of velociraptors has sprung up everywhere. Like 1 raptor per 20 people on earth, and they are hungry. Also for the sake of argument, these velociraptors are Jurassic park movie size.

Velociraptors were the size of a turkey.  Yes they did travel in packs but so do dogs and I am not afraid of them.

The intelligence of Raptors in JP was very exaggerated.  They were smart, for a dinosaur, but not so much compared to a higher mammal.  Wolves/Lions are certainly smarter...

Raptors the size depicted in JP are about the size of a large Deinonychus, or small Utahraptor...

You know they were feathered right?  Since JP came out they have found several Maniraptorian species preserved with feathers, including Velociraptor Mongolensis

I concur. Attrition will ultimately reduce the velociraptor packs.

Velociraptors are cunning pack hunters, but they're not amazingly smart. Additionally, they have hollow bone structures (like the birds they would ultimately evolve into), so they are pretty fragile. 00 Buckshot would likely be more than sufficient to end them.

Tough one.

But raptors can't propagate at the speed zombies do.  A couple of weeks of hunting out here and our raptor problem would be solved.

Containing Z's would be a bit more....problematic.

Zombies...because they create more zombies....Raptors just eat the kills and move on....no additional raptors unless they actually breed.

They actually aren't that big.  308 would be plenty.  Hell, 223 would be plenty.

Any of the common sporting calibers would work well too.  243 Win, 260 Remington, 270 Win, 30-30, 45-70, 30-06, 12 gauge with buckshot, 44 magnum, 7mm Remington Magnum would all work fine.

Yeah the science wasn't as advanced back when JP was made...and I got the feeling they played a little hard and fast with it anyway.  But they did hunt in groups, so they may as well be as smart as a wolf or lion. Still amounts to sharp teeth eating me.

They're not reptiles.  Velociraptors are in the Maniraptora clade...  You know, the same clade as modern birds. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maniraptor

That is why they were feathered... To maintain thermal homeostasis.  Cold would not have slowed them down anymore than it does you.

They've found Dinosaurs that survived the antarctic winter such as the Leaellynasaura and Cryolophosaurus.  The climate then was somewhat warmer, so it was less inhospitable.  Still, the Sun disappeared for months at a time, and it was certainly below freezing for much of the year.  In fact Leaellynasaura has extremely large eyes, which they believe is an adaptation for the long winter months without light.

Helicopter + M60= Raptors freaking lose.

Zombies are attracted to noise, so a helicopter would be out of the question, in fact any firearm, or other machine would attract zombies.

I would be much more afraid of zombies, rather than a pack of stupid dinosaurs, I would go as far to say that I would be more worried over a pack of dogs than a pack of raptors.

Sorry guys, but I just don't think raptors would be that bad.  At worst they are the equivalent of Wolves, and we dominated them when we only had stone tools.

Human kind dominated Wolves, Dire Wolves, Cave Bears, Sabre Toothed Tigers and Mammoths all with stone tools.  We could certainly handle Raptors now that we have firearms and body armor.  Hell, put on a suit of chainmaille, and a Raptors claws would be useless (works as a shark suit, would work as a raptor suit as well).

Velociraptors are big reptiles, distantly related to birds.

Reptiles that taste like chicken.

Reptiles that make awesome boots.

Reptiles that don't have firearms.

Reptiles that are outnumbered 20:1 in your story.

I'd give them six days before being completely extinct in TX and Louisiana.

ETA: Okay, not actual reptiles, but they do taste like chicken!

As I pointed out above, they have discovered several dinosaur species that survived below the Antarctic Circle.  Raptors were almost certainly warm blooded, and would be far more likely to stay active in the cold then would a modern reptile, or a zombie for that matter (which would likely freeze solid)...
