I want to get a cheetah. I've done my homework on their care and I can provide it with a home at minimum on par with a zoo, if not much better. But I'm not sure where or how to get one. Thanks!

I believe there is a rescue and breeding group right next to Fossil Rim out toward Glen Rose.

An African zoology Dr. runs Fossil Rim, he'd be a good guy to talk to too.

Get one of the many adults that are unwanted because cheetahs make horrible pets. Heck, charge the former owners for its housing, feeding and upkeep at your 'sanctuary'.

I have a new baby F2 Savannah, my third one.

Great cats, but they're about 100% more active than your typical cat.

Check your local and state laws, nationally you should be fine, but some states and localities throw out extra requirements.

Next find the nearest photography place that does photos for people posed with baby animals (this is more popular than you may think) find out who owns the animals from them and offer to take the animal off their hands after it has grown too old for picture use.

Boom, now you have a baby Cheetah and it has a much better home than it would have otherwise.

Make sure your enclosure has a roof. If you are setting up an outdoor area, use the highest fence possible and run wire mesh over the entire area.

Jeans are not adequate to protect you from claws even from young cats just playing.

IT IS A WILD ANIMAL, not a domestic, never confuse that regardless of how conformable or trusting you become with it. Respect and caution are required at all times by yourself and any guests who may come around the animal.

Saw a documentary about cheetahs a few years ago. There were scientists going around some African country telling farmers about a program to repay them for lost livestock if they wouldn't shoot cheetahs. One elderly couple commented they didn't shoot cheetahs, they liked having them for pets. They went around the back of their farm house and there were two laying on their porch. They even filmed the two of them in the front seat of a Range Rover while the farmer was driving down the road.
