Quoted: Just lie like most people here are doing if you want to feel better about yourself…or pretend their times are real and use it as motivation to slay dragons. Quoted: Quoted: Some of your times are making me realize how out of shape I got during covid. I was running 3 mi in 20 min. Now its 27, age 42 Just lie like most people here are doing if you want to feel better about yourself…or pretend their times are real and use it as motivation to slay dragons. Nobody here is giving crazy times. Cant you just support your brothers? |

Quoted: I am training for a 5k this coming Thanksgiving with my daughter and grand-daughter. Monday I made a mile in 13:09. I have a long way to go to reach 3 miles at all. I have not run on purpose since I was in the Army in the 1900 hundreds. Keep going, you can do it. |

Quoted: Nobody here is giving crazy times. Cant you just support your brothers? The 40 year old running a 15 min 3 mile? Let’s see some video, I’ll watch all 15 min at real time for that. When I was 19 in combat arms USMC an 18 min three mile was a high bar to pass. I’m just sick of the “back in my day” “when I was in my prime” “if only coach would have put me in…” BS that people here jerk themself off to while covered in Cheeto dust on their wife beaters. Lots of people make great physical fitness claims then balk when it’s time to prove them. The anonymity of the internet makes it even easier. |

Yeah, ill give my PR but thats not what this thread is about. Its funny, ill post videos and guys will call me conceded but then others will say they want to watch a 15min video of someone running. Eta, I recognize the fitness guys here. If some random 26er says they're running 3 miles in 18 minutes I ignore them without fanfare. |

Quoted: That’s darn good. Sub 20 is a dream goal for me. Quoted: Quoted: Best 5k is currently 20:48. Haven't ran one or any other race this year, training for a full marathon. I have ran halfs and every thing under. This is a whole new animal... That’s darn good. Sub 20 is a dream goal for me. That is a good time. Here are the Cooper standards based on 1.5 miles. Pretty easy graph. Find your age range at the top, look down to your time, then right for the percentile. Assuming 50 percent is the standard passing score, anything above that is gravy. There's a race every 4th of July, local but legit. Running coach guy is just under 15 minutes every year, and he's 30. The 40 y/o record is 15:40. I don't think there are many 40 year olds out there turning out 15 minutes 5k's. The 10k has a nasty hill after first mile, it's rough. |
| 2 bad knees a herniated disk and an umbilical hernia... I don't really run but I do walk and hike a bunch. Ill wake up on a sat/sun morning at 4am to it raining, get stir crazy by sunrise and go walk trails or hike to the top of a mountain lol. It's amazing how much ground you can cover even if you're moving slow when you just keep moving. |

36-ish minutes. Old, fat, and slow. Edit - a year ago it would have killed me. I ballooned up to 290 from a couple leg injuries and being completely undisciplined. I have dropped back to 215 over the last 12 months and lifting/running again. But damn I feel dumb for letting myself go for 2 years. wtf. Turning 50 and I lost focus. All in now, though. |

I'm near 40 and am perfectly happy maintaining a 5K time of 24 minutes. |

On a machine, probably 24 or so. I don't time myself running but run 3 to 5 miles a day. I hated PT in the military early on. Went back in many years later (picture MEPD at 40) and flipped the script on my attitude. I used to run so I could eat. I now eat specifically to run. Creeping up on 50 and burning circles around the Gomer Pyles. So long as my knees and hips hold out.....

28:30 or so and I’m definitely gonna feel it later. If I’m not pushing myself, easily 30 minutes. Which is a far cry from a decade ago+ ago when I could pump out a sub 20 minute 3 mile with ease and hungover from a night of drinking in the barracks. I’m 44 and the airborne grunt / Afghanistan miles have really started catching up to me. |

I am broken down and all my lower body joints hurt. My wife actually says I walk like an 80-year-old man when I get up in the morning. It is far from I could do in the FMF buy a few weeks back I did a 5K and came in at 26.11. It was all gutting it out and motrin the next day for me though. |

I'm about to turn 41 and started running about 4 years ago since I was getting a gut and consuming mass amounts of alcohol. Would have never imagined that I'd become somewhat of a runner. I run about 30 to 40 miles per week. 5k - 20:02 5 mile - 34:00 Half Marathon - 1:34:23 50k trail race - coming in spring of 2027 |
