Actually, it is HB 218.  Allows LEOs and Retired LEOs to conceal carry in the U.S.  I am petitioning my congressman for a yes vote.  How about you?

An email from www.concealedcarry.com...

Rep.Cunningham and LEAA call on Members of Congress to Stand up for Cops
Sign HR 218 Discharge Petition

Congressman Duke Cunningham, Sponsor of H.R. 218 and Jim Fotis, Executive Director of the Law Enforcement Alliance of America (LEAA)  will be holding a press conference on Capitol Hill Wednesday May 8th urging Congress to sign the Discharge Petition for H.R. 218.

For more info, see the LEAA web page at http://www.leaa.org/218

National Police Week is just days away and H.R. 218 Supporters want to make sure members of Congress have an answer when police officers visit their offices and ask, “what have you done to help H.R. 218?”

The national concealed carry bill for law enforcement has been cosponsored by a majority of Members of Congress but the bill is being held up in Committee by House Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner.

Wednesday May 8th is National Support H.R. 218 day and we need you to help get Congress’ attention.

You can do three things that will make a difference:

1. On Wednesday May 8th, call your Congressman and ask them to sign the discharge petition for H.R. 218  the phone number is (202) 224-3121.

2. On Wednesday May 8th , get online and email your Congressman and ask them to honor National Support H.R. 218 Day by signing the discharge petition.

3. Forward this email to fellow officers, friends and supporters of H.R. 218

Congressional Staff do notice the volume of contact they get on each bill.  If we can make Wednesday May 8th the biggest day ever for H.R. 218, we will make a difference.

WHY DO THIS?   [shock]

According to Lott (More Guns Less Crime) Cops have 99.9% more wrongfull shootings than normal joe CCW holders. We need to fight to stop this before its too late.

Typical cop... doesn't know how to take a joke based in reality...

By the way the badge comment was a cop out... no pun intended.

Noddah,

Your initial post bordered on cop-bashing.  It would have played well in GD, but here, it looked more like a serious dig, mostly due to the lack of any effort to make it look like a joke.  Try a winkin' smilie [;)] or some such in the future and consider that some topics aren't well-suited for bad "jokes".

As for your second post, if you want to pick a fight, take it elsewhere.  That kind of  attitude is unwelcome here.

For those non-LEO's who oppose 218 because 'why should cops carry nationwide if we can't', consider this:  the chances of a federal law allowing civilian CCW holder to carry nationwide passing on it's own is about zip.  If 218 passes and is successful, the next logical step is to go for nationwide reciprocity for non-LEO CCW holders based on the success of the LEO law.  Adding non-LEO's to the original bill will absolutely kill it, no question.  Unfair?  You bet.  I think your CCW should be honored nationwide.  However, it's reality.  Bitching about it won't get laws passed, working at it in a sensible manner might.
