The worst dive thread got me thinking.  I LIKE dives.  I like places with a bar, a couple of tables maybe a jukebox, and maybe something worth eating.  Some place small, not crowded, not expensive, and not trendy, but friendly.  A good old comfortable familiar pub.  Not a restaurant, either, but some place to hang out and maybe eat while you get to the business of slurping some suds and shootin the shit.

Most towns have one.  My favorite all time was the Rose & Crown in Garmisch (Brit pub in Bavaria)
In Annapolis it's Davis Pub (actually across the creek in Eastport, and right next to the dinghy dock).
In Baltimore you can't swing a gold chain without hitting 3 of em, but Canton Square is a good spot to start sampling.

So what's your town's best low brow casual hole in the wall pub/bar/dive?

I have a few to choose from around here, Tall Texan, Jimmy's Ice house, Shiloh.  I love dive bars

The Brick in Jonesville, IN.  Cheap beer and great food.  Usually they know what I'm ordering as soon as I walk in the door.

I live in a one traffic light town.  Your options are limited.

I live in the woods in a "dry" county

No pubs/bars

There was an old bootlegger that had a greyhound bus half buried up in a holler that served as a "bar"

Sadly he is no longer in business

The Jade Dragon. Yeah, I shit you not, the biggest dive in my town is a chinese restaurant where all the locals go get shit faced. Drinks are strong as hell, and they never cut you off.

Sterling Place Tavern in Buffalo, NY. The best burgers, steaks, and beers around....and you'd never know it from the outside (or even the inside).

Triangle Lounge  in Wilmington, NC. I usually go there for afternoon beers with a couple of my friends.

I like Sharky's on Ocean Isle Beach when I'm down there.
