Chemical Plant Explosions Rock Waxahachie

A massive fire is burning at Magnablend chemical plant in Waxahachie and prompting evacuations near the facility.

The company has three facilities in Waxahachie and the fire is at the Central Facility at 1601 state Highway 287 Bypass just east of Interstate 35E.

Lisa Wheeler with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality said the plant deals with ammonia, sulfuric, hydrochloric, nitric and phosphoric acids and mixes them for fertilizer and agricultural products.

This sort of thing happens at chemical and propellant facilities occasionally , you can have the best saftey systems and all it takes is a skilled idiot to make a big boom.

Its an unfortunate, but it will always be a risk.

It appears that nobody was injured or killed. One firetruck burned up though.

Meaning their skill sets will be going to the nearest employment opportunity that exists.
