I currently have a tasco 6X-18X on my m700 but it sucks bad....when I am deer hunting it fogs up and it has a hard time holding zero.....I would like to know if there are any comparible power scopes out there in the range of $200-300.
PS I do not want to hear about Leupold....yes I know they are great scopes but I don't have the funds to put down that amount.

Go to www.samplelist.com This is part of SWFA.  The have a Pentax 4x16x44 for $399.95.  These are nice scopes.  The only problem for me is that it is "Gloss" finish.

Did you check the equipment exchange???

B&L scopes are affordable and of good quality. Check out the B&L 4200 series.

I'm afraid you get what you pay for.  Try this scope:

Okay, now that I've made my joke, I would recommend another Tasco, the Tasco Super Sniper series.  They're fixed power, I'd get the 10x.  A very good scope for the money.  Check them out here:

Nikon makes some very good scopes that should be close to your budget.  You usually get what you pay for when it comes to optics; buy the best you can afford and you won't be sorry.

VTHokieShooter--where are you shooting--from the top of Slusher?

Do you really need the 18x?  My brother was able to get a couple of deer using my Win. 30-30 with peep sights in the Nat. Forest.

That being said, you can still get a Leupold--

Try these links:

http://www.swfa.com/riflescopes/leupold/VX-I/index.html

The new VX series are supposed to be pretty good for "value" priced scopes, and with the Leupold name, you can expect a good scope.

Sad news, Leupold is the absolute most affordable of the good optics. Great optics cost 3-4 times as much.

If you cannot afford Leupold, you cannot afford good optics and will forever be stuck in Tasco hell.

LOL, Slusher tower used to be my home away from home [:D] [:D] [sex]

Anyway....I do a lot of long range work for ground hogs, coyotes, fox and deer....and I like shooting misc targets a long range (350-500) yards.....

Deer hunting in the National forest sucks.....I usually hunt corn fields in Franklin co where a 280 yard shot isn't uncommon...I think I will check out B&L and Burris

[DEVIL] TASCO HELL? LMFAO

I guess that's the deepest, darkest, most godforsaken part of hell?  Not to mention that you must not be able to see a darned thing! [:D]

I can't believe Burris is selling one of their Ti scopes with a TiN finish. Talk about FUGLY!

Have you considered a used Leupold? They really do stand behind their product whether you are the original owner or not. Due to the area I live in I have seen things happen to scopes and rifles that are hard to believe, I have seen Leupold warranty scopes that went of cliffs( sheep hunting is the ultimate test), have been in bush plane crashes, boat wrecks, fallen out of tree stands and one that a Brown Bear chewed on for a while. I don't think one can afford anything less than at least Leupold quality.
I would have more trust in a clapped out 303 British enfield with good glass than a Dakota Longbow with poor glass.
Look at this as an oppurtunity to escape from Tasco Hell.
Have a nice evening, Rabon...
