Maynard--that's the problem...I don't have enough for a new gun, although I'm sure that's what he would most like. I think the most I could spend would be around $300.

Aimless--I think you might exceed my budget by just a bit! :)

How about buy him something that he asked for. My gf is always buying stuff that she thinks i asked for and it never is. If he wants a case of ammo, buy him that brand and cal of ammo that he wants. It will make him happier than having to tell you thanks honey, but its the wrong one.

$300 is enough for a very nice folder and a case or two of ammo depending on caliber or for roughly $300+ bones you can buy him a SAR 1, 2 or 3 from [url]http://198.63.62.70/acatalog/AIM_Rifles_1.html[/url]

Excellent value and mags and ammo are cheap for all 3 calibers except mags for the SAR 3.

$300 will also get you a RCBS Master Reloading Kit if he doesn't reload yet.

Maynard's a genius-you can get an SAR 1, 2 or 3 for that. We can help you with which one is which if you don't know (if you do oops, sorry). Ammo is a good one too. ammoman.com is a good place (don't get wolf or selleir and bellot unless you know that's stuff he likes already, some people don't like them)

Knives!! you could get him a REALLY cool knife

I'm not really a knife guy but Columbia River Knife and Tool knives have always been good for me. I own 3 in various sizes and blades. Best non-auto opening knife I have seen.

Not sure this is the best site for pricing and have never used them myself but here is a look at CRKTs.

Benchmade and Spyderco are two other knife brands I hear mentioned quite a bit.

Keep in mind if you go the SAR route that these are fairly crude rifles by AR standards. The fit and finish aren't a high priority but they are very cheap to feed, accessorize and make a certain statement of their own. I haven't had mine very long but I love it and it really tweeks noses at the range.[}:D]

Strider Knives I think are regarded as among the most super badass knives around-[url=]http://www.striderknives.com/knives1/bt-mainpic.jpg[/url] These are real high end super good knives that SEALS and other professionals buy (or so I've heard)-super cool, wish I had one. Strider lists dealers on their webpage

If you are going to get an SAR, you'll need an FFL to get it for you sort of. If you decide to do this and are unfamiliar with the procedure, let us know. I've bought guns off the net and paid FFLs $ 25 to get it for me, not all FFLs will do this, there is a little bit involved to this but it's no biggie.

(could I say "super" anymore?)

if you are looking for a SUPER cool knife, get him a Benchmade Auto. Mine is a Stryker 9500 designed by Allen Elishewitz.

It'll run you about 175.00 at a gunshow/terrorist arms bazaar but they are AWESOME.

Or get him a Browning Buckmark. or a Walther P22! Those are Awesome little guns you can get for aroun 200 clams. Not bad. I have both and I Love them. The Walther is a great pack/trail/last ditch conceal gun.

Hmmm... I would love to get a Dillon RL-550 progressive reloading press. If he doesn't reload already this would be a fantastic gift, with the added benefit that you could buy him new accesories for it whenever he deserves another present.

Does he write a lot? How about a Mont Blanc Number 149 piston filling fountain pen with either a medium or OBB nib?

I'm sure that you could find one for +/- $300 at a discount office supply store.

If he doesn't use a pen, how about an air compressor? Being able to buy your own pneumatic tools rocks!

Or what about a GPS?

Does he fish? You could get him a nice Orvis 8' 6wt rod for about $300.

How about an offshore fishing trip down here in coastal Carolina?

First..you have already gotten him a lot...I salute your willingness to walk in here and ask for advice and willingness to listen to what was offered...print all of this out and just show it to him....I know it would mean the world to me if someone just tried as hard as you have....

ArWife, you might consider a Chris Reeve Sebenza, just about the finest, smoothest and one of the strongest folding knives made. I suspect he would be speechless.

I would say the best present would be to hear her say that even thoug I am sometimes a real ass she loves me anyway. That she knows I love her. That her vows are as true today as they day we got married. I want her to look me in the eyes with all the love I have for her.
