We are having a yard sale today. I decided to sell an NcStar scope on carry handle. Well, I went into the house and my wife came in shortly after, she needed change for a 50. By the time we got back outside some “A” hole took the scope and the kids clothes. I can’t believe people. All of the people there were of “Latin” persuasion; this really helps their cause. They were pretending that they didn't haabla Englasey. I talked to somebody else about it and they got $600 taken from them. Evidently they use a distraction and make off with the goods, if you are having a garage sale in Texas, watch your stuff closely. It didn’t cost me a lot but I just can’t believe some, probably illegal that doesn’t even own an AR, would steal it.

That seriously sucks, but it's not too wise to leave a yard sale lone.

The GF and I have 2 or 3 garage/yard sales a year and we've caught SHITLOADS of *ahem* hispanic individuals attempting to walk off without paying for stuff. We NEVER leave things unattended, and ALWAYS have at least two people in the driveway at all times.
We're wise to the "distraction" methods-and here's the kicker: If she or I see someone that genuinely looks a little light in the wallet and kinda needy, we either drastically reduce the price of the item(s) they're looking at or actually GIVE it to them. Fucking thieves-of ANY race.

I really don't care what race or language you claim. What I meant was that part of their schtick was to distract you by making you feel sorry that they didn't speak English. The wife gets help and they bail with you stuff.

Yeah, and they try to place the 25 cent price tag on the $20 items.
If you notice, most of the thiefs travel in groups, they keep you busy while the one steals. Imagine that... having to steal at a garage sale. Talk about the skum of the earth. |

The same thing happened to me at every swap meet I ever went to in CA. Actually caught a woman stealing some stuff off my mom's table and she was pissed I made her put it back.
