I purchased a Beretta 92FS last November and finally got the chance to shoot it last weekend. I have never gone more that a few hours with other purchases in the past just like most of my other friends.

I am just curious how long other people have waited.

btw - it was a great shooter![snoopy]

I have a 20 gauge Mossberg shot-gun I bought for the wife when she was getting interested in some squirrel hunting back in 1993.
She dropped her interest and the shot-gun still to this day has not been fired.
I also have a Smith & Wesson Model 59 Nickel 9mm that was purchased in 1980 and still in the Factory box with not a single round even loaded into the pistol. It did have mother pearl handles installed on it at the dealer were it was purchased.

Not hi-jacking the thread, but here is my pics of the Model 59.
Byron 2112 I hope you like these
I have had the 59's before and they are a sweet pistol, but when I finally got this one I decided it best not to shoot it.

I've gone at least a year, maybe more without firing a new gun.

My dad however, can go forever. He's got at least twenty unfired guns including a S&W airweight .38 he bought for my mom back in the 60's that's never even left it's orignal box.

Wow!

Very nice.

A fine looking handgun.

Makes me wonder why they don't seem to make many nickle plated or polished stainless firearms anymore?

When I was a kid(70's) seems like nickle revolvers and such were pretty common.

I think that kinda finish is beautiful and makes a handgun a real treasure.

Thanks for the pics nwatson99.

I have a Beretta Cougar 40 cal. I bought it in March of 2001.

My mom was going to buy a gun for protection, so I gave it to her to save her some money. Never been shot.

I had a Hungarian AK underfolder that I kept for two years and never fired it.  It hadn't ever been fired before and I couldn't make myself shoot it because it was so nice looking, not a ding or scratch or anything.  So I sold it.

I've got a shotgun new & unfired going on five years and two AK's going on about four years.  they're stored for a rainy day.  I've had a number of other pistols and rifles that I picked up in trades that I never fired before I traded them again.  I do tend to shoot everything else I have.

I think I got you beat Mike.  I bought two bran new Match M1As about a month apart early last year.  I have not fired either one yet.

However, weather permitting I'm going to skip church tomorrow morning and go out and zero in those suckers.

You guys are all sick! Guns that aren't shot are nick-nacks. You should have just bought beanine babies instead.

For me the longest was a month for a new 10-22.
Most of my new guns pop their cherry that weekend.

THREE MONTHS, BOUGHT A JAP ARISAKA TYPE 99 IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR. STILL HAVE NOT FIRED IT. HAVE THE AMMO, BUT I GUESS I AM SOMEWHAT AFRAID TO FIRE IT. I QUESTION HOW SAFE IT IS.

Japanese Arisaka rifles have incredibly strong actions. Go ahead and shoot it. Unless you got shafted and wound up with one of the Gaijin specials. Hope you can read Japanese.

Myself, I bought my AR and couldn't get ammo for a month. That was excruciating.

I usually shoot them the day I get them.  Have been known to just shove one in the chamber and let it fly even though the rifles have clean barrels.

I guess the longest I've went was the two or three days that passed before I shot my G19 back in January.

I have had a RRA varmint rifle in the safe for 2 months now waiting for the Tasco SS scope to arrive(tracking says it's coming this Wed.)so that's the longest for me.  Usually I have all the mags, accessories and ammo long before the gun is purchased.
