Apple names the operating systems (called OSX)  for their macintosh hardware after cats.  versions have been called Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Lion, etc.

iOS is the name of the operating system for their mobile devices (iPod, iPad, iPhone).  Safari is the name of Apple's web browser.
