All the issues of U.S. monetary policy, fiat currency, and quantative easing aside... the U.S. has been getting absolutely raped by counterfeiters for decades, entire nations like the Norks and Iran even put the efforts of their government behind it as a source of income, and to help debase our currency.
We've had some of the worst and insecure bills of any first-world nation for a long long time. Anything we do in terms of anti-counterfeiting tech is a good thing. Might as well make it purple like in Total Recall...

I don't get it... So they won't counterfeit the new stuff. Just the old stuff. My grandfather has stacks of bills in a safe from the 80's.. Spends just the same as the new stuff.
It only works if they ban all older bills. |

Just a heads up, be VERY careful with these bills if you get a fresh stack from the bank.
They are extremely easy to become stuck together. My boss accidentally gave $200 instead of $100 during two separate transactions. The new hologram strip is very cool though!

The bank manager where I have one of my savings account at already received a letter from the FBI and Secret Service about the Fake Chinese Hundreds. She showed me one of the fakes that they received earlier that day, and I could not tell the difference except in the Benjamin Franklin Watermark which had less detail in it. I can say that the hologram and other anti-counter fitting devices on the new bill are worthless as the Chinese nailed it.

They invest millions or more in anti-counterfeit technologies for the new bills, yet the old bills are still legal tender. 
All you have to do is keep counterfeiting the old bills. |

You have to wonder why they are putting all the effort in to keep counterfeiters from debasing our currency.
The Fed has created trillions out of thin air since 2008 through QE to infinity. The North Koreans and Iranians couldn't possibly counterfeit anything like the pile of bogus greenbacks Ben Bernakke has. |
