Big collection? Just a few movies?
Big. Close to one thousand DVDs, takes up one wall of the media room. Mostly all the wife's. I think I may have a couple dozen John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen, car chase and war movies on the shelves.

huge 700+ maybe
It's like having my own Netflix without the Net' |
Beta and VHS tapes, DVD and now Bluray ... uggh.
My wife is a movie lover. |
I started buying DVDs in '97 when I got a GateWay Destination entertainment PC/HT system. I have originals where they were only recorded in DTS, or Dolby Digital, the original ALIEN set, Kubrick's set, stuff like that. I got to about 500 of them before I stopped collecting them 5-7 years ago.

I own Tommy Boy, The Nutty Professor, and The Princess Bride.

With the internet, I wish I didn't have any. Just takes up space. You almost can't give away dvd's these days.

Norco 4220 server chassis.
16x 2 or 3 TB hdds. Many movies. I rip my blu-rays to hdd. |
Just packed my movies up for a move. Two U-Haul/Home Depot "small" size boxes of Blu-Rays, DVD's, and Laserdiscs () plus a couple of stragglers that wouldn't fit and are going in a book box.
Also have a 3Tb HDD that I'm on my way to filling up. The Target $5 Blu-Ray shelf and the Criterion Collection flash sales probably account for 25-30% of it. |
Working on converting them all to a NAS. I hate having the clutter of a pile of dvd's

500+, slowly being transferred to a media server. I was really happy to see the latest PS4 update included a media player. It's bare bones but it works fine.

A couple dozen of my favorites with high replay value. (Stuff like Blazing Saddles, Pulp Fiction, Das Boot, Idiocracy, etc.)
We typically have movie night with Netflix but pull out a classic from the shelf once in awhile. |
Pretty big. We got rid of close to 100 or so last year, but not included all the kid videos we probably are in the vicinity of 4-500. We keep everything in different places. I have my stash in the basement of movies that only I like watching, bigger stash upstairs of movies that both my wfie and I like watching, and then another stash of family movies that we can watch with the kids. We still have a bunch of movies on VHS too, but only one working VCR.

Pretty sucky.
Kids started pilfering them and they slowly got lost or something. I just stopped buying them so I wouldn't be pissed all the time. |
I have a huge collection, but it's probably every ARFcommer's nightmare - very little of it is devoted to talking robots or movies with oiled up dudes blowing stuff up with fire.

1,978 at the moment. Lots of movies. Running out of shelving. Haven't watched them all.

Big collection (similar to fish223--500+). I usually buy by director and have seen most of the films 5-10 times at least.. It's all a business write off for me (Actors' Equity Association member and film teacher) so it's not a waste of money at all.

Mostly 80's action movies and classics, some more recent ones but mostly 1980's and 1990's.
it is entirely digital and takes up about 1.3TBs of hard drive space thus far. about 80% are in HD, so around 650-700 titles.
Huge collection. 2500 or so DVDs and about 3000 blu-ray. Mostly cult and horror movies, as well as allot of 80s comedies and action. I've also been collecting TV seasons for a while, also.

I have 100s of DVDs. They all sit in boxes in my basement. With the internet I just don't find myself watching them all that often.

View Quote I'm up to about 8TB using three 3TB hard drives now, about 1500 movies, lots of complete TV shows, concerts, music videos, music in FLAC format, haven't reached for a disk in years, unless its to rip it to a hard drive. |
I just got a Blu-Ray player and only have Fury, American Sniper, and Gardians of the Galaxy.
