I'm seriously considering grabbing a big box of fireworks, some tannerite, and having my own fireworks this year.

Anyone else?

I'll be in the parade with the American Legion, then I'll be working the beer garden for a few hours, then I'll head to the woods on a bluff overlooking town to drink some beer and watch the fireworks.

July 2nd is my bday so I usually have a big party and watch the fireworks right over my house cause they set them off across the street. I was supposed to go away on a camping trip but that's been cancelled. So now I'll just watch the parade in the morning that goes right by my house, go cool off in the gorge for a while, then BBQ, beers & fireworks.

Going to a MG shoot in the morning/early afternoon - then home for a nap - after that a cookout & adult beverages - then off to my son's house to light-off a few devices after the sun goes down.

(if all goes as planned)

I plan to inventory my ammo

The beach I live on has a serious fireworks display every year. Since the viewing area is right around the corner, 3 minute walk, I plan on enjoying them there. I may even purchase a beach chair this year so I can sit and watch instead of stand and watch. Beer is also going to be present as it rounds out things
There are also many, many wemenz at the event. Sad thing is, I watched most of them grow up.

There will be a rally in downtown Charleston, a follow-up to the 15 April Tea Party.

I plan on attending.

Last year a friend and I observed Independence Day with our muzzle loaders. Something about the boom followed by a big cloud of smoke... It seemed appropriate.

July 4th I will be packing my tent up with the wife and hiking back out of Lawn Lake in the RMNP for a quick rest before heading to Pear Lake in the Basin Range the next day.

Hangout with my family at a tea party then go grilling and watch stuff blow up
Link Posted: 6/15/2009 10:41:05 AM EST
Visiting some friends here in town. Drink beer, eat food, the probably go watch the fireworks at the fairgrounds.

I hate watching fireworks, it's such a simple activity. "Ohhhh! Flashing lights and loud noises!!!"

I really want to go to a Tea Party, though the wife has vetoed it as we are committed to going to the annual family gathering in West Virginia.

We always get a few mortars and tons of aerial rockets and light up the night sky.

The BBQ will get a good work-out, not too mention cold beer, dirt bikes and go-karts.

I put on a fireworks show every year with the majority of my extended family; we all meet in Idaho at this time of year. I became the master of ceremonies seven years ago, the show has been my family's celebration of freedom for over 40 years. My uncles all did a good job in their day, but I've taken things to a whole new level–– there are over 120 people who show up at "the lake" for our show, everyone contributes the day before, then me and the cousins go to the Indian Reservation and load up–– last year, we had to tow a boat (with cover) because the Jeep Cherokee simply wasn't close to big enough to carry everything we buy. The show is non-stop w/ five guys lighting mortars for at least 20 minutes...then the finale, which is awesome if I do say so myself (last year I dropped more than $500 just on the final 3 minutes).

One year, there was talk about not putting on the show: too expensive, too much litter (the beach is a mess-and-a-half on the 5th) too loud, etc... I got up on a picnic table, gave a speech about freedom, how our country was created, the symbolism of fireworks, and having the freedom to put on the event in the first place...everyone from my neocon cousins to my pinko uncle got a little twinge of the patriotism, opened their wallets to donate, and I've been the MC ever since.
KABOOM! Let Freedom Ring!!
