So, Dayton's big accomplishment so far is calling out the National Guard to stand around as window dressing at airports. I'm sure those Guardsmen could be doing something much more productive than watching security people pretending they know what they are doing. (One report this week of x-raying the shoes of a woman who was so old she couldn't take them off herself.)
Mark Dayton is another rich kid who never had to work for a living, and felt that being born into a wealthy family qualified him to tell other people how to run their lives. For those who don't know who he is, that's Dayton as in Dayton-Hudson, which recently changed its name to Target to reflect that Target stores are its biggest holding.
I worked for the State of Minnesota many years ago, while Dayton was dedicating himself to "public service" in public policy positions. He was clueless on issues he was supposed to be making policy about. Some liberals really want to help people. Some, like Dayton and many Democtrats, just think that most people are too stupid and incompetent to live without people like Dayton (and Gore and Lieberman and Wellstone) to regulate every aspect of their lives.
That thing about bussing senior citizens to Canada to buy prescriptions is typical do-gooder nonsense. Charter a bus and haul a bunch of old, sick people on a long trip so they can save $50 on drugs. Just give them the $50 and save the trip.
