The crickets started chirping a while before totality. One of the strangest sensations I have ever had. I wish I had a few more Lenses for our Canon T6i. |

The thing that struck me the most was the quality of the light.
It was bright sunshine, but muted. Not like a cloud in front of the sun, but just strange. I can see why primitives thought bad things were happening. |

Yeah light was really eerie at the peak. The light coming through the trees cast thousands of bright crescents on the ground

As has been said, the lighting of earth objects was strange; kind of inky and surreal; I too can understand why those not in-the-know used to think that some malevolent god was about to give us a whoopin' on the kiester.

It was wild.
I have witnessed a partial solar eclipse, and a full lunar eclipse. This was strange, and very cool. |
