Is a NCSTAR weapon light worth a crap?

Like $20?

I doubt it.

The light I currently have on my rifle cost $7.  At Lowe's.

Many will disapprove, but it has always made dark places brighter.

That said, I plan to get an Inova at some point.

No experience with NCStar but you may want to check out Fenix for a little more money, mine's holding up well so far.

With all the new lights coming to market, the days of $200 lights are numbered.

In before the haters.

a surefire G2 is what $30-40?

+ a mount, just about any 1" ring that will fit a picatinny will work in a pinch.

mounted lights on handguns are over rated.

they have their uses, but i would advise getting a good handheld and practicing with it.

especially on a limited budget.

I ordered a TK11-R2 a couple of days ago.  A package arrived from Fenix yesterday, but instead of the light I ordered, it had a TK10.

I won't bad mouth them until after they respond to my email, but they don't seem too organized so far.

I like pistol lights.

but I like good quality pistol lights.

don't stake your life on junk.

here's what I have:

Surefire 6P ~$50
Malkoff 60 drop in 235 lumen LED ~$50
Elzetta ZORM mount - mounted on the top rail, close to the FSB ~$65

works very well, places the light exactly where I want it for a thumbs-up activation

I highly doubt it. Go spend a $100 or so more and get a TLR1

If it's for your air soft it should be fine.  If its for your home defense gun, get a surefire.

I just got that model a few weeks ago and I am very pleased. It's my first pistol light, had always used a handheld before. Well worth $ in my opinion. I've spent wasted plenty of $ over the years on cheaper gear and almost always was disappointed.

They work well on rifles in a pinch also.

I just wanted to update this to say that the guys at Fenix are very helpful.

They shipped me the TK11-R2 and I'm beyond pleased with it.
The TK10 was a great light too... almost a better choice for a weapon light since its dimpled mirror gave a ring of semi-intense light around the intense central spot.

If its for your airsoft, you should be fine.  If it's for a HD gun, dont even think about it.  Get a surefire and be done with it.

This.

I'd have a G2 duct-taped to my handguards before I bet my life on an NcStar product.

I have a 6P LED Defender on my shotgun this way. Works awesome!

The click on/off tail cap helps unless your using the funky setups that put it right near your thumb with a foregrip.

Here's my TK11 with a black spacer ring on my AR.  The mount is an old Walmart 1" scope ring.

I have the pressure switch for it, but it's easier for me to just hit the button with the joint of my middle finger.

To be honest I can't remember, I have been running this setup for quite awhile.

IIRC, I might have bought it from Botach but I don't recommend buying anything from those idiots.

I am sure an Streamlight dealer can hook you up.
