My washer is making a rubbing sound while it was trying to spin. KInda smelled of burnt rubber too, like a belt on a vacuum smells when it has something hung in it.
Anybody have an idea?

Belt loose or bearing going causing extra drag and slipage of the belt??

Look underneath it and see if the pulleys and belt have an obstruction. Lean it over and check the pulleys bearings too while your at it.
