A few days ago my washer stopped working while in the spin mode. It sound like the motor was running but the tub was not spinning and then the motor stopped with the water still in it. Today I drained the tub and When I turned it on it would spin. When it would stop it squealed loudly. When I filled it about 1/4 with water it seemed to start to spin slowly then it would pick up speed . I spun the pulley by hand from underneath and it felt to spin freely except it would catch on a small spot on every rotation. I asked a friend who knows a little about washers, he said it was probably the motor. I wanted to ask you guys before i went and spent the money on a motor and find out that wasn't the problem. Thanks in advanced.
ETA: It is a Maytag Performa top load. |
