Walmart sells protection plans that seem to cheap.

For example I just bought a 20" steel caged fan for the garage, protection plan was $2 for two years.

So who has done a claim on one of their plans, whats the catch?

If they though you would have to use it, they wouldn't offer it.

Never used Walmart's but the terms and conditions look pretty standard, maybe even a little better than most.

I can only assume that they're banking on most people losing their receipt and/or forgetting about it and never claiming.

Then I need to thank those people, because I will.

I use Straight Talk cell phones.  I get the 2 year warranty.  $60
It saves me everytime. I have never had a phone last more than a year and a half.

I get a $200 gift card sent to me in less than a week after I ship the old phone.

The last one was a Samsung that I dropped after I had the phone for about 2 months. I dropped it and cracked the screen. I got an new screen from Ebay and tried to do it myself.

The digitizer was also broken and I fucked up the front of the phone.

I told them what I did and they said it was a 100% warranty.  Covered.  Great Plan

My experience was awesome.

I bought a Sanyo tv and a little while later it quit working right.  I called the number and a guy came out and looked at it. Said it was broke and there's no fixing it. A week later I received a check for the price of the tv. No bugging them. One phone call and two weeks later I had the check.

I bought one once.  The $30 printer crapped out on me.  The plan was $3 or $4.
I called, the number.  They wanted it shipped to the manufacturer, in the original box, me to pay the postage...
It also tuns out black ink cartridges were $14, and color $35.  I was getting low on both.
I threw the piece of shit (that got myself and my son through a semester of school just fine, into the garbage.   I bought another without the "warranty" for $28 on sale.

YMMV.
