For whom should we cheer in this battle? I hope margins/prices are cut to the bone.
Wal-Mart said Wednesday that next month it will join Google’s online-shopping marketplace, Google Express. While the deal will add hundreds of thousands of Wal-Mart items to Google Express, it will also give Wal-Mart access to voice ordering. The deal won’t alter how consumers receive their orders, because Wal-Mart will fulfill purchases made through Google Express. https://www.wsj.com/articles/wal-mart-and-google-partner-to-challenge-amazon-1503460861 |

I'm siding with Walmart and Google over Amazon.
Amazon is run by pinkos and are anti USA and anti trump. Walmart is actually run by more or less good people. |

I've given Walmart several chances, but their inventory tracking is shit. For the forseeable future, I'm sticking to Amazon. At least with them, you can believe it most of the time if they say an item is in stock.

Google is partnering with Walmart to get their listening technology in everyone's home.
And to the idea that they're somehow more principled than Amazon: lol. |

I don't think I know anyone that's into voice ordering. Or involving politics in their purchasing choices either.

Voice ordering? People care about voice ordering? ![]() View Quote Voice recognition technology is still shit, IMO. Last thing I want to do is order something using it. I use both Amazon and Walmart. One feature I love about online ordering with Walmart (and Home Depot too) is being able to save shipping by having the item shipped to my local store. I do not have Amazon Prime so I often have to look at the shipping cost for an item from there. A lot of Walmart's catalog is available for shipment to the local store. There is no longer a "sales tax" advantage with Amazon in most cases so ordering from either one is going to result in that tax being collected.

Wal Marts website is infested with third party vendor junk, and in store pickup is all the way in back of the store and typically unmanned.
They need an app to pick up at a drive thru to have a chance of beating Amazon on price alone. |

Amazon > (Wal-Mart + Google)
Amazon wants your money. Google wants to change society. Wal-Mart is the lesser partner in this deal with Google. Google tech; Wal-Mart supply chain. |

What's weird, is that Walmart and Google are both amazingly fucked up these days.
I just spent over 4 hours trying to buy an app for an android device. It would let me change the password, but then it wouldn't let me use the new password, or any other password. Walmart used to be a model of efficiency. Now, they are the poster child for sad, bloated corporate retardation. Going in Walmart today, is like going into Kmart 10 years ago. It really is stunning. I don't "like" Amazon, but they give you what you want. |

A lot of people were talking about WalMart's demise a year ago but as you can see from their share price and recent financials, rumors of their death were greatly exaggerated.
