I have an older Colt AR, I acquired it 20 or so years ago as a trade for repair work.
I have not fired it much and currently have no use for it as I recently moved to a suburb of a large city. I would like to trade it for a hand gun
Is it legal to trade w/o going through an FFL dealer ?
Pawn / Gun shops seem to be quite popular in my area. Good or Bad choice?
I have read the "Equipment Exchange " section and quite honestly I find it confusing, the laymans terms and acronyms make no sense to me.

Thanks

Only if both parties are residents of the same state and state laws permit it.  It doesn't matter if you trade or if money is exchanged.  It would still be a transfer under the law.
