I put an extra drive in my PC. I used it for storage of all kinds of stuff, and had all the programs on the main drive. It has been in there for at least a year.

I went to grab a pic off the net and save it, and it said, "Drive X is not formatted, do you wish to do it now"?

I said hell no.

I rebooted and went to that drive, same thing. It doesnt even show sizes, etc.

Is everything gone?  WTF???

O/T- I have a crazy Aunt. We all have a crazy Aunt, mine is certified, or should be.

Two computers ago, I was back in Ohio, and I was telling about a computer issue, that I thought was firewall related.

My crazy Aunt said in a deadpan voice, "Its not your firewall,  I have your firewall at my house", to which I quickly responded, "Well I will stop by and pick it up." Needless to say my other Aunts found no humor in my witty retort. "CavVet, we dont encourage her".

"Aunty, I dont fight her. Besides, if she has my firewall, I want it back damnit."

Now, can this thing be recovered or am I sol???

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, just give up and reformat the drive !!!

I have had this same thing happen MANY times over the years and more often than not, it's only the FAT that's corrupted.

Get a geek to look at it for you.  This isn't something you want to dick around with yourself, unless you have uber-skillz

It's NOT particularly difficult to repair, but certainly not your 'do-it-yourselfer' territory.

I'd hazard to bet that's all that's wrong.

Good luck !

BTDT too many times.  I run RAID5 for my not-so-important stuff and RAID1 for files I'm not willing to lose.
